So 8.1 is almost here and Rogues have a new trait called Echoing Blades.

At first glace it seems strong but to understand just how strong it is, lets look at how it works. So for each Fan of Knives, its base damage is increased by 321. That's not too bad but not overpowered either. Once you look at the second part it might become a little more clear how strong this is. For the first 5 crits per Fan of Knives, you will deal an extra 1282 damage to all enemies within 8 yards.

So even with an average trash pack of 5 mobs and decent crit of 20%, you will be dealing an average of 6410 damage from the secondary proc per Fan of Knives from one azerite trait. You can run three of these, allowing you to deal an extra 4815 base damage and and average an extra 19230 damage from the secondary proc per Fan of Knives. This is just an azerite trait. You still have your actually Rogue abilities (or 'ability' since Fan of Knives spam will be better than any other ability).

Here is a handy graph of the sim DPS of azerite traits for an average dungeon run:

Yeah. It's a little strong. I've also found an interesting video here of a rogue demonstrating what 3 Echoing Blades looks like in a M0 MOTHERLOAD!! If you would like to see the traits in action on the PTR.

I expect this to be nerfed soon since it is very obviously overtuned. Guess we will have to see its impact in the coming days and how Blizzard reacts to it.
