It's not every day that you can fire up the daily MMOG news and have a chance to win $250, but today you can. I mentioned the contest on Friday, but later found out that there will be three $250 prizes given away. The best entry from TenTonHammer.com readers as will have its own $250 prize. I know you are busy or lazy or maybe just indifferent, but $250 is $250 and if you are the only entry then you win. Enter now and enter often! Show the land lubbers that TenTonHammer.com readers are winners and that (in this case at least) pirates can defeat ninjas!
Tired (or lazy, see above) of checking back to see if your WoW realm is up? You can now get a SMS message direct to your cell phone when your realm comes back to life. I have no idea if this service works. If it is a scam or if you will be obligated to fly a Russian bride over the pond if you sign-up, but it's funny nonetheless.

And now...direct from our live reporters at MMN:
Politics - Amid renewed cross-border fighting between Human and Orcish forces, Human officials said Monday that they intend to create a buffer zone in southern Barrens to stop rocket attacks from the militant group. "We intend to complete this operation. We have no intention of allowing anyone to stop us before we complete the creation of a buffer zone," Human Defense Minister Aye Shootalot said. Several suspected Orcish rockets hit the northern Human city of Stormwind on Monday -- the sixth day of fighting that began after Orcish guerrillas abducted two Human soldiers in a cross-border raid.
Science - Space shuttle Gnomergan and its crew of six returned to Azeroth through thick clouds Monday, ending an impressive mission that put Gnome space program back on a solid, safer course. Gnomergan landed at Steamwheedle Space Center at 9:14 a.m. in only the second shuttle flight since the 2003 Ratchet disaster. "Welcome back Gnomergan and congratulations on a great mission," Mission Control told the crew after Gnomergan rolled to a stop. "It was a great mission. A really great mission," Captain Grapplegrommit replied. The smooth landing was sure to leave Gnome space program officials jubilant, after conquering the chronic threat of foam chunks that break off the external fuel tank during launch -- still a problem, but not a serious one in this mission.
Society - Supporters of banning cross-gender characters (Males playing female characters and vice-versa) in MMOs won two major court rulings Friday, with a federal appeals court reinstating Thunder Bluff's voter-approved ban on cross-gender characters and the Iron Forge Supreme Court ruling that voters should have a say on the issue. Last week, the highest courts in two others cities also dealt cross-gender rights advocates setbacks. The Darnassus court rejected a bid by cross-gender players to win marriage rights, and the Undercity court reinstated a constitutional amendment banning cross-gender marriage there. In the Thunder Bluff case, Azeroth District Judge Joseph Bataillon had ruled that the ban was too broad and deprived cross-gender players of participation in the political process, among other things.

Op/Ed: Thoughts On Dual-Boxing
"With the birth of the casual, "dual-boxing" simply isn't the dirty word it used to be. It's all about taking level-grinding achievement to the 2nd magnitude, but does dual boxing double the fun or the not-so-fun aspects of MMO gameplay? Ethec logs in, then logs in again to offer his thoughts." -
Auto Assault: Mayhem From Multi-Boxing
"The ethics and ramifications of dual-boxing, should developers mind or not? If you're familiar with MMOGs, you have probably heard of the term before. But if you're new or just haven't heard of it, dual-boxing is when players have access to multiple accounts and utilize them simultaneously, usually through the means of controlling multiple computers. This can open up windows to many new possibilities including assisting oneself through either personal coordination or macroing. Such assistance could reduce dependence upon others for group play or allow greater efficiency or effectiveness during "solo" play. Sounds great for the individual that is capable of setting up such a system, right? But what about how it affects others and the game world? Are these concerns significant enough for actions to be taken against such a practice?" -
Dungeons and Dragons Online: Double Take - Dual-Boxing And DDO
"Dual-boxing is the act of playing two separate accounts of a massively-multiplayer online game (MMOG) simultaneously. We take a look at why people choose to double-box, how they accomplish it, the consequences, and how dual-boxing works in Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach." -
EverQuest 2: Multi-Boxing Madness
"2 box.. 3 box.. 4 box.. more? If you have ever played more than one account with one character at one time, then you, are a multi-boxer! I have to give a little bit of awe to anyone that has the patience to multi-box, but really, should you? Read up on Savanja's thoughts on the craze of multi-boxing!" -
EverQuest 2: Heavy/Medium Level 20 Armour Quest Guide
"To complete our series of the level 20 armors quests, we finish up with the Qeynos side chain and plate armor quests. Armor and experience isn't always easy to come by, but with Savanja's step by step walk through of all 6 quests, it is easy!" -
EverQuest 2: Ratonga Racial Quest Guide
"Cute, furry, and squeaky the Ratonga are a wonderfully intelligent race of creatures who could use a bath and a good home. Kiara gives a great walkthrough of the Ratonga racial quests, so put down your cheese and take a look." -
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - Who Or What Are You? Races In MMOs
"One of the first decisions you'll make when playing any MMO is what race you'll be. Some people have an affinity for a certain race, while others are more flexible. Mercurie takes a look at how races in MMOs got their start with Dungeons & Dragons, which took its races from Tolkien, who took some of his races from mythology. He also asks the question: does Vanguard have too many races? What do you want to be when Vanguard: Saga of Heroes launches this winter?" -
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - Mission Impossible: Multi-Boxing In Vanguard
"Holy split personalities, Batman! Are you one of those MMO gamers who likes to have two (or more) game accounts in order to play two (or more) characters on two (or more) computers at once? Multi-boxing is prevalent in several MMOs including EverQuest and World of Warcraft. But how will multi-boxers fare in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes? Is multi-boxing even necessary when combat is engaging and fun?" -
World of Warcraft: Dual-Boxing And WoW
"Wow, this week for our network content article we got such a cool topic, and one that I had to jump all over. Being a complete computer geek for the past 25+ years (yeah, Iâm old!), I have a huge collection of computer equipment just lying around. Over the years this has made it very possible to dual, triple, even quad box many games. I have done it in many different games at many different points in time." -
World of Warcraft: Alliance Leveling Guide
"For your questing pleasure we present the Ten Ton Hammer's Alliance Leveling Guide. If you are leveling up under the Alliance banners, then this guide is for you! It goes into detail on the most efficient way to get to level sixty. It includes the most intelligent path of questing (which zones to visit and when) along with prime "grinding" spots (areas where the enemies are weak and plentiful for lots of slaying!). So if you are Alliance, no matter the level, give our Alliance Leveling Guide a try."
