You knew it wouldn't be long before Turner took the Cartoon Network franchise and created a MMOG. The time is now.

"Cartoon Network’s first massively multi-player online game (MMOG), Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall, has its debut at Comic-Con 2007 in San Diego, beginning Wednesday, July 25. Scheduled for a summer 2008 release, the game will have playable demos at Cartoon Network’s booth on the Comic-Con show floor. In addition, a panel of FusionFall creators will provide an in-depth look at the game at Comic-Con"

The full press release is available here.

I'm excited about these MMOGs aimed at the younger crowd. Although my children play many MMOGs with me I would love it if they could play something with the characters that they read about and watch on TV. It may also remove my need to close their chat windows before letting them set off on an adventure with me. I effectively make them "bubble children" while they play. We sit side-by-side, chatting away. They have no interaction with the other players other than seeing them run around. It would have made a great Seinfeld episode.--

Not to be outdone by other contests, Richard Garriott and friends are giving Tabula Rasa fans a chance to visit the home of General British himself.

**Note the picture they are referring to can be found by North Americans here and by Europeans here.

"The Tabula Rasa Signature Character ContestWe’re sure that all of the AFS is familiar with Sara Morrison. Well, there is a new guy that just transferred in, and you get to decide exactly who he is.

We have very little information about him. We know it is a "him" and we know he originates from Earth and managed to escape before the Bane conquered the Earth. But that's about everything we know about him.

Have a look at his military ID picture below. What do you think his name is? Where do you think he comes from? Was he a dutiful and respected army officer or a renegade mercenary? Was he a husband, a son, or a father living a cozy suburban life, or was he a lonesome, wandering figure living his life in the darkness of some city’s back alleys? The choice is all yours. His name and his back-story are for you to define and to be recorded in AFS history for prosperity!

Once you are happy with the name and backstory you have drafted and perfected, email or mail us your entry respectively in .txt, .doc or .rtf format or typed on one or several A4 (8.5” x 11”) pieces of paper. Only one name and backstory entry per person will be accepted.

Please make sure that both the name and the backstory are included in the document you will send to us as all entries missing either one or the other will be automatically disqualified, as will all entries infringing on any patent, copyright, trademark or other intellectual property right, any privacy, publicity or publishing rights of any third party, or deemed libelous, obscene or otherwise contrary to law.

All submissions will be judged equally on the following criteria: originality, creativity, quality and presentation (bad spelling/grammar will work against you so make sure to spell-check your work). There is a maximum word limit set at 1000 words so make it compelling!

6 finalists will then be selected by NCsoft (3NA/3EU) and the Development team will pick the First and Second Place winners from the group of finalists. Although there is only one set of prizes, different terms and conditions apply to US and Canadian Residents on the one hand and European Union residents on the other hand. The terms and conditions for the European Union entrants are located at [INSERT URL]. The First and Second Place winners will then be flown to Austin, Texas, United States, for the Tabula Rasa Pre-Launch Party happening at Britannia Manor sometime in the week starting on Monday 3rd September and ending on Sunday 9th September!

11:59PM (Central Time for North America, British Summer Time for EU) on 5th August 2007 is when the contest ends so pens/ fingers up…ready…steady…go! No entries will be accepted after this date.

By entering, you agree to all of the terms and conditions in the Richard Garriott’s Tabula Rasa Signature Character Contest Official Rules and Conditions (below), so please make sure you read them carefully.

Good luck! We look forward to reading your entries!"

Good luck! I'd love to see you there!
