Daily Column
16 new MMOG hand-crafted articles today! 240 for November! Does any other site even come close?
Jason Stone's answers to my death penalty queries stirred up some discussion in the message forums. Jason himself stopped by the blog to comment.
A quick round of clap for all of the Loading... readers. Did you know that you are one of nearly 400,000 people who read this column every month? If Loading.. were a country it would be larger than Bahamas, Iceland and Barbados. We would be approximately the 170th largest country in the world! I think we need T-shirts! But first we need some necessarily peculiar taglines to put them. On your mark, get set.... go!
Cameron, our #1 newsie type and all around nice guy plucked a story yesterday titled, MMO Security: Are Players Getting Played? from TechNewsWorld.com, a site with an impressive name and less impressive traffic score. I threw the score part in there because I'm a jerk.
"For instance, "World of Warcraft," the largest of these games, recently surpassed nine million subscribers worldwide. Each of these subscribers to "World of Warcraft" is paying US$15 a month to play the game."
Stop reporting on our industry if you don't know what you are writing about. Many of the subscribers to WoW are from outside of North America and Europe where the price tag is not $15 a month. Your other option is to keep reporting, but take up my radical cause of being unbridled by both facts and grammar. If you are going to pretend to be trustworthy then you need to check some things out before you go tippity-tapping away on the keypad. My route is easier and generally more entertaining.
Basically the article goes on and on about bad guys using websites to get your personal information. I'm pretty sure that MMOGs aren't the only industry that the malcontents are targeting. On the other hand, maybe they are inferring that we gamers are just too damn stupid to know about nasty websites. Back to eating your own feces in the last car of the lamebrain train you halfwit. Oh, and stay away from websites. They are teh eViL. I heard
was a viable alternative.I'm proud that 400,000 drooling, knuckle-dragging nincompoops read this column. Forward... march! (Don't forget to post your best T-shirt slogan) At least Mike Goslin, the VP of Disney Online will talk to us.
Enjoy the benefits of being a Loading... reader. You deserve it!
