League of Legend's big blue bird Anivia is one of the more popular mid laners in the game due to her high damage output, excellent wave clear, and a variety of crowd control abilities. Not only that her passive is essentially a second life, reverting Anivia to her egg form (with full health) for 6 seconds. If the egg survives the full 6 seconds Anivia will be reborn in that location with the same amount of health that remained on the egg

Despite all these advantages Anivia can be a little tricky to play, especially if you're new to the mid lane. To make the experience a little less daunting, we've compiled some helpful tips that should get you off on the right track.

Speed Boost - Anivia has one of the slower movement speeds when it comes to commonly played mid laners. Consider investing in boots early on, or simply playing it safe. If you get caught out in the open during the early levels there's a good chance that you wont make it to safety before being killed.

Crystal Clear Vision - Whether you're concerned about a possible gank incoming or are hunting down a runaway enemy, you can use Crystallize to give vision on a large area around it. This is especially important for a mid lane champion like Anivia who is surrounded on two sides by bushes.

Mana Up - Anivia's mana cost is somewhat high compared to other champions but she makes up for this with a comparably high base damage. Because of this base damage you can get away with building a mana regen item like a chalice first to keep you topped up and the CS flowing.

Easy Farming - While you do have to use your last hitting skills for the majority of the early game, once you hit lvl 6 with Anivia you get your hands on a secret farming weapon. Anivia's ultimate Glacial storm is perfect for quickly dispatching entire waves of minions quickly, and since it has no cooldown you are free to use it again and again.

Walling - It doesn't do much damage but it's one of the most effective tools Anivia has at her disposal. Crystallize is perfect for cutting off champions who are trying to get away or who are trying to get to you. Going in for a gank? Throw up a wall and cut them off before they get back to their tower. Team fight just started? Place a wall between the enemy brawlers and your Ad carry keeping them safe while they dish out the damage. Eventually with enough practice you can even pin enemies against the environment, disabling them for it's entire duration.

FrostBite After You Chill - Anivia's Frostbite damage is doubled if the enemy champion is chilled when hit with the attack. Chilling an enemy is easy enough, hit them with your Q for a chill effect that lasts 3 seconds, catch them in your R for a chill of 1 second that resets as long as they remain inside it's area of effect. Doubling the effect of your Frostbite is a huge chunk of damage so make sure you have the enemy chilled before you use it and then have to wait for the cooldown.

Passive Problems - It's important to remember that while Anivia's passive can result in you having a pseudo second life, if you are caught without any friendlies around you're still as good as dead. If you are caught and know you are going to die, bee line it for the nearest help. Because the enemy has to essentially kill you twice, it doubles the odds of your team being able to get there in time for you to make it out of that egg. Just remember to check if your passive is up and active first.
