Bertoxxulous Deity Quest Guide

Bertoxxulous is the deity of death and decay. His instills faith and fear with noxious horrors and takes his pleasure in the rotting darkness of disease. Those that choose to follow The Plaguebringer will likely be the evil and unsavory sort, and might particularly appeal to the evil mages, such as the necromancer and evil aligned warlocks and wizards.

If you plan on joining ranks with this distasteful creature, you will need to speak with his prophot in Gorowyn. You may find him near the waste of the Breathing Pools, just inside Gorowyn from the beach entrance. Just follow the path to the west and speak with Hrath Everstill.

Please keep in mind that you will need the expansion Rise of Kunark to pledge your loyalty to Bertoxxulous and you will need to be evil aligned. Each quest does have a required minimum level, so if you do not meet that requirement, you will not be able to get the quest!

Believe in Me (level 20) - Your first task is to speak with Eralok Riz'Rok (loc 2474, 33, 1348) in Gorowyn. You need to head back the dock area of Gorowyn and just inside on the southwest platform, you will find him.

Then find Talakla Dih'dl (loc 2607, 119, 1170). He's inside Gorowyn on the upper platforms (ask the guards to point you in the right direction!).

Next speak with Voldik Myli'sok (loc 2702, 106, 1188) who is found a platform over and down from Talakla. He will tell you that you may retrieve the tome from a table near a research station which is inside the Grand Anthenaeum (loc 2667, 66, 1362).

Then speak with Tolok Ku'ele (loc 2566, 161, 1322) found on the upper southeast platform.

Finally, head to the docks to find the pupil. He's called "a parser disciple" and is underneath the docks. He'll attack you after you speak with him, kill him and take his loot! Return to Hrath.

Reward: Humble Altar of Bertoxxulous and Faction.

Some Testing Required (level 35) - Hrath needs you to test out his odd concoctions on some Orcs! Travel to Zek and you'll first use the Decaying Myst Prototype on three orcs. If you are still low level enough for these mobs to con, use the illusion that Hrath gives to you to avoid combat. Next, you will use an annoculation and a Decaying Myst on 3 more orcs. Once these have been done, use the item Hrath gave you to summon him and speak with him. He'll now send you to speak with the Greenhood herbalist, Katrien Bogmoir (341, -19, -466). She's located in a cabin in the Greenhood camp. Katrien will give you the serum you need which you will right click on and blend with the antidote you have. Find another unlucky orc to test this out on. It works! Return to Hrath to report this news!

Reward: Your choice of neck or wrist item, and Faction.

Noxiousity (level 55) - Now Hrath wants to make a decaying myst that will work on Sarnak and Iksar. You'll need to find someone who can help you get all the items Hrath will require. The guy you are looking for is Omiir Z'kay (loc 2450, 27, 1329). He's on a platform just inside from the docks. Omiir sends you to gather a couple of items for him, draconic bacteria and gallium sulfur. These are found in lavastorm; the sulfur is around the lava fields past the Goblet of Ro. The bacteria is found around the volcanu mobs in Solusek Valley outside of Sol Ro Temple. Return these to Omiir.

The next person you need to find is in Windstalker Village. Swim into the pond there, and you'll find an entrance to a cavern. Speak with Stephen Pikefist (loc -2043, -39, -572) and he will give you what you need and send you out on a little task to gather the rest; a tissue sample from a Putrescent Anathema. This ugly guy is summoned in the Glade of Coven (loc -1587, -13, -234) when you use the wand provided on a woodland creature in the area, just collect his sample as a body drop, then head back to Hrath.

Reward: Summon: Pariah of Bertoxxulous (+33 INT) and Faction.

A Caravan of Death (level 65 heroic) - Hrath asks you to travel to Dreg's Landing in Kylong Plains to speak with Yersenia. She's on the northern end of the landing, a teeny little arasai next to the steps. She gives you a receptacle to place in the drolvarg camp (loc 508, 18, -120) across the pond. Return back to Yersenia once it is placed. Yersenia will send you off again to deliver a crate. Her little friend next to her can teleport you. Talk to the merchant where you land, and he stuff will start pounding on you right quick. It's a lvl 66 heroic encounter, so you might need help! Defeat the ambush and talk to the NPC again. Return to Hrath.

Reward: Hrath's altar of Bertoxxulous and Faction.

The Plaguebringer Cometh (level 75 heroic) - Slay the Watch Commanders at both the Riliss and Bathezid Watch Towers. First Rilissian Guard Elite Aviator Raschaud. A level 75 heroic found (-72, -27, -146) on the road on the way to Riliss. At the time of doing this quest, he was pretty tough for a 75. Then hail his mount that was next to him and ride it through the town and back to spread the fermenting agent.

Then you must repeat the same song and dance with Invigilator Warwyn (also 75^^^), found on the way to Bathezid Watch (loc 1299, 200, 1092). Kill him then ride his mount through Bathezid.

You now must travel to the Field of Bones and the center of Jaled Dar's remains. Once you get in the area, you can't miss it as it is a spectacular sight, but the Field of Bones is on the northern end of Fens of Nathsar (-1553, -368, -1523). At this point, use your Call of the Plaguebringer. You will need to protect him from the waves of mobs that attack. First is a group of healers level 75 heroic. Second is a group of fighters, also 75 heroic. Finally you fight a 75^^^.

Reward: The Cloak of Pestilence (Can sometimes prevent an untimely death of the wearer) and Faction.
