Etheric Light is a powerful new crafting material in House of Wolves that allows you to upgrade any previous legendary gear up to the new expansion stats. You’ll also need a few other common materials to complete the process, but when you do that piece of gear will be the same light level as any new House of Wolves Legendary.

There are several different ways to get your hands on Etheric Light some more difficult than others, but it’s by far the most efficient way to get yourself to level 34.

Nightfall Strikes

The least efficient method of farming Etheric Light is through the weekly nightfall strike. At the end of the strike, like any other form of loot, you will have a chance at receiving an Etheric light as well. Although the chances of getting one have been increased with a recent patch, the odds are still less than you would receive using other methods.

Trials of Osiris

The Trials of Osiris are an OK method of gaining Etheric Light if you’re good at PvP and have a decent team. All you have to do is accrue 6 wins on your card and you’re guaranteed at least 1 Etheric Light. Do even better and your odds of receiving another one increase.

Prison of Elders

In order to receive a guaranteed Etheric Light in the Prison of Elders you have to beat it on lvl 34 or lvl 35 difficulties. If you can do both, you will receive a light each time.

All chests in the treasure room have a chance of giving Etheric Light as well, so be sure to stock up on Treasure keys and also check both of the small ones. The lower level Prison of Elders also offers this random chance of receiving an Etheric Light.

Iron Banner

If you’ve got the Glimmer and the PvP skills, the Iron Banner is by far the most reliable method of getting Etheric Light. If you are rank 3 with the Iron Banner you can purchase an Etheric Light for 5000 Glimmer. Reaching Rank 5 will allow you to purchase a second one for the same price.

With the recent buffs to reputation gained in the Iron Banner, Rank 3 is very achievable by even the most casual players, so you should be able to get at least one. Make sure you purchase your Iron Banner Boon and pick up all of the bounties before heading in to maximize your rep gained.
