Blood of the Brood Quest Guide

Blood of the Brood is the signature quest that gains you the reward of a class hat. If you don't have one of these, then by golly, you need to go get one!!

This is a long, multi-leg quest that will likely require that you have a regular group handy as you will be having to enter some of the most dangerous areas of the Kingdom of Sky expansion. You'll want to be a minimum level of 60 to start this quest, though I do recommend being a bit higher than that for smoother sailing.

Starting NPC: You get the quest from the NPC Hoo'Loh, found on the chain connecting the Isle of Discord and Strifewind Isle.  It's kind of a pain to reach. You climb up the chain starting on the Isle of Discord, and carefully make your way up.  Once you reach the wall at the chain, you drop and Hoo'Loh (loc +23, +5, -440) will be there.  You may fall the first couple of times, but eventually you get the hang of it, and can run up it like it's nothing.  You will be given a series of tasks to complete, each time return to Hoo'Loh for the update.

Quest Part 1: Slay vultaks surrounding Hoo'Loh. From my experience, any on the ground near the general area of Hoo'Loh will work. It doesn't say exactly how many you need to kill, but you will receive and update when you've made the requirement.

Return to Hoo'Loh.

Quest Part 2: Slay the Scroll-bearer in the Strifewing camp.  This is found up the climbing wall that is located past the pond on Strifewind Isle, and is a proximity aggro mob for those that have the quest at that step.

Return to Hoo'Loh.

Quest Part 3: Retrieve a scroll in either Freeport or Qeynos from the mage guild.  The Freeport scroll is located in the Academy of Arcane Sciences on the 2nd floor.  In Qeynos, it is located up the yellow portal in the Mage Tower near the Sage.  It is a clicky labeled "an ancient scroll".

Return to Hoo'Loh.

Quest Part 4: Lead Hoo'Loh to the egg inside the Nest of the Great Egg.  You'll be wanting to kill the named, so take a good group.  Lead Hoo'loh to the egg, then return the location in which Hoo'loh is usually for the quest updates. Careful not to lose him, he tends to wander off!

Return to Hoo'Loh (Yeah, he's quick getting back there too!)

Quest Part 5: You need to kill various mobs around Kingdom of Sky with varying degrees of difficulty. Some of these you have to kill an awful lot of to get the update, so don't get too discouraged, you'll eventually get it, I promise.

• Slay Scaleborn Warriors (found in the Sanctum of the Scaleborn, usually in the halls.)
• Bloodscale Dreadknights (Inside the Palace of the Awakened up top and part of the ring event.)
• Formless Abominations (from inside the Halls of Fate, beyond Sothis.)
• Doomwing Skarize Centurions (from inside the Halls of Fate)
• Sothis (named dragon inside the Halls of Fate.  Level 72 ^^^ with lots of friends so definitely bring your backup!.)

Return to Hoo'Loh (*huff, puff*)

Quest Part 6: Sneak into the special instance of the Nest of the Great Egg using the disguise provided by Hoo'Loh. Stay clear of the mobs otherwise you may find yourself having to redo this part of the quest.

Return to Hoo'Loh (As if this surprises you?), only now, you FINALLY get your reward! You will receive experience, coin, and a hat appropriate for your class. Enjoy!
