Hellfire Citadel, a raid instance released in Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.2, and is located in the Tanaan Jungle Zone. This raid is currently available in four difficulties LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic and requires an ilvl of 650 to enter. With 13 separate raid bosses in this non-linear instance, players will be able to choose their own path through this bastion of the Iron Horde. Divided up into five sections, this is one big instance.

In this guide we will tackle the Destructor's Rise section of the instance, providing you with all the details you will need to successfully take on the boss encounters found here.

Fel Lord Zakuun

The first fight in this wing is against Fel Lord Zakuun and it is a fairly easy one. This fight is single target encounter that alternates between two phases until the boss reaches 35% or when two cycles of Phase one and two have completed.

In the first phase Zakuun wields an axe that cleaves his targets' souls from their bodies, during the second phase Zakuun will throw his axe down and strike both tanks and spread Seeds of Destruction throughout the raid. Zakuun will also attempt to summon Fel Crystals throughout the fight as well as sending the Tanks into a special Shadow Realm.

Phase 1

In Phase 1, Zakuun begins as armed and will bring his axe against your raid. His attacks are slow, but quite powerful. The raid should attempt to be spaced out with 6 yards between each player.

The most important mechanic in the Phase 1 portion of the fight is Rumbling Fissures (appears as swirls on the ground). This will be cast several times during the fight. Players should stand in all but one of the Fissures until they stop spawning. This allows only a single pillar to spawn, ideally the furthest from the boss.

Players that stand in the Fissures will receive a Latent Energy debuff, causing them to be stunned if they are hit by Wake of Destruction (purple wave). These waves can be avoided by jumping or moving out of the way.

Tanks will need to deal with an ability called Soul Cleave. When cast, Soul Cleave deals Shadow damage and teleports the tank to the Shadow Realm. The other tank must pick up the boss when this happens. Tanks in this realm literally do nothing for 15 seconds, then they will be returned to the room with the raid of the raid.

Phase 2

After 90 seconds, Zakuun will cast Throw Axe and leap into the far corner of the room signifying the start of the second phase of the fight. Phase 2 lasts for exactly 45 seconds. No abilities from Phase 1 will be used in Phase 2.

During this phase Zakuun will gain Heavy Handed, hitting the tank and off tank with heavy damage simultaneously. Players will also need to remain aware of the axe, which will emit Fel Explosions that damages the entire raid. Zakuun will also dish out Seed of Destruction (twice during Phase 2) to a few players. After a few seconds this will cause the targeted players to emit waves of Wake of Destruction.

Phase 3

At 30% health or at the end of his second Phase 2, Zakuun will gain an Enraged and will use abilities from both phases of the encounter. At this point players should focus on killing the boss as quickly as possible. Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp should be saved for this phase.

Xhul'horac

This encounter takes place over 4 phases in which contain a lot of fire of various colors. When you walk into the room you will notice two giant portals on either side of the room. One portal is powered by the void, the other by fel magic. Xhul'horac will draw power from each portal and eventually from both portals at the same time.

Phase 1

Xhul'horac will activate the Fel Portal first, granting him Fel abilities and summoning a host of Imps followed by Vanguard Akkelion. One tank should take the boss, while the other tanks picks up Vanguard Akkelion. During this phase, players with Fel Surge need to run to the edge of the room to drop green fire. Players with chains should run in opposite directions of each other to break them. DPS should prioritize killing Akkelion.

Phase 2

After Akkelion dies, Xhul'horac will turn to the void portal which will grant him void based abilities. As in Phase 1, a few small adds will be summoned followed by a larger add (Omnus). Players with Void Surge will need to run to the edges of the room to drop purple fire. Players can also choose to drop the purple fire into the patches of green fire to clear it out if space becomes limited.

Occasionally a Black Hole will spawn, pulling players into it. While it may seem like it should be avoided, several players should run into the center of the Black Hole. This will destroy the Black Hole and split the damage from its destruction. Once again, the add should be the DPS priority here.

Phase 3

In Phase 3 Xhul'horac will swap between Phase 1 and Phase 2 abilities. This swap will take place rapidly and will be difficult to keep track of. Tanks should swap each time a Fel Strike or Void Strike goes out, so each tank only is hit by one of the strikes. A Tank being hit by both will trigger Shadowfel Annihilation, causing a massive explosion. This phase should be burned through as quickly as possible.

Phase 4

At 20% health, Xhul'horac will go crazy. The boss will cast Overwhelming Chaos, dealing heavy raid damage as well as continuing to cast Void and Fel abilities. This is when Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp should be cast. DPS must burn through the boss before the damage becomes overwhelming.

Mannoroth

Mannoroth will be just a pile of bones on the floor when you are teleported to this platform. Around the space you will find three summoners that will need to be defeated. Once the first summoner is pulled, the encounter officially begins. Summoners should be killed one at a time with the recommended kill order being Red, Purple, and Green. Mannoroth will appear and attack after the final summoner is defeated.

Phase 1

After the summoners are defeated, Mannoroth will appear and attack. He is not much more than a pile of bones at this point and has not reached full power. Tanks should pick up Mannoroth and place their backs against the green Fel Spire to avoid being knocked off the platform by Massive Blast. The tank not hit by Massive Blast should taunt the boss immediately.

The rest of the raid should stack near the boss, ready to kill any and all adds that spawn. Players should stand near players who are feared with Mannoroth's Gaze, which should be simple if the raid is stacked appropriately. Players will need to move to avoid Fel Hellstorm (black shadows on ground) and Felseeker (expanding green circle) but should stack back up immediately afterwards.

Phase 2

When Mannoroth reaches 65%, he will increase in power and Phase 2 will begin. This Phase is almost exactly like Phase 1, except Imps will no longer spawn. The only new ability during this phase is Shadowforce and it is a doozy. Shadowforce place a purple beam on the player and it pushes that player towards the edge of the platform. To combat this ability, affected players should run towards Mannoroth until Shadowforce ends.

Phase 3

At 35% Mannoroth will once again gain in power and Phase 3 will begin and all hell will break loose. The Fel Spire that tanks had been using to prevent themselves from being kicked off the platform will be destroyed. The boss should now be faced towards the center of the room with only one tank in front of the boss at a time.

The boss will retain all previous abilities and they will now be stronger than ever. Fel Hellstorm is constant and Shadowforce affects the entire raid. Players affected by Shadowforce in this phase should attempt to place themselves in the white patches that spawn on the ground in this phase to prevent themselves from being pushed off the edge.

This phase is a race against time, with tons of damage going out. Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp should be used to make it through this phase as quickly as possible. Failure to take down the boss quickly will result in certain death.
