Feats 11-20
By Nuitaran
A rating of 1 or 2 means the Feat is pretty much useless to a
paladin
and one that you probably want to avoid. A rating of 3 indicates
that
the Feat can be used with some careful planning, or with certain class
combinations. We reserve a rating of 4 only for those Feats that are
almost necessary picks for certain types of builds, or class
combinations. A rating of 5 designates the best of the paladin Feats
and ones players should seriously consider for any

Eschew Materials
Official Text: “While this metamagic feat is active, spells are more
damaging, but they consume additional spell points.”
Prerequisite: Able to cast spells
Comments: Paladin components are cheap, and their spells are trivial
enough not to have to worry about it if you run out mid-adventure. This
is a waste of a Feat.

Official Text: "You do not suffer a -4 attack penalty for using one or
more of the exotic weapons."
Prerequisite: Base Attack Bonus +1, STR 13 for Dwarven Waraxe or
Bastard Sword
Comments: This one will largely come down to personal choice. If you
are going to be a Slashing Weapon focused paladin, it might be a great
choice. Having a d10 damage on a single handed weapon is pretty
significant, but powerful Bastard Swords and Dwarven Axes (although
more common recently) are still fairly rare. Some people will be
content swinging Longswords and Battleaxes. If you desperately want
that upgraded damage die, consider a Dwarf paladin who gets Dwarven
Axes for free.

Extend Spell
Official Text: “While this metamagic feat is active, spells with
durations last longer, but they consume additional spell points.
Prerequisite: Able to cast spells
Comments: With a paladin's limited spell casting ability, this Feat is
rather worthless.

style="border: 2px solid ; width: 200px; height: 150px;" align="right">
Official Text: “Allows you to turn undead four more times per rest
period.”
Prerequisite: Turn Undead
Comments: Sadly, Turning is highly ineffective in DDO. It doesn’t work
well even for clerics, and a paladin's Turning abilities are even more
reduced. I’d avoid this one completely.

Great Cleave
Official Text: "Activate this ability to attack one or more enemies in
a wider arc than Cleave."
Prerequisite: Cleave, Base Attack Bonus +4
Comments: Leave it to the fighters. Enough said.

style="vertical-align: top; background-color: rgb(219, 201, 125);"> style="font-weight: bold;">16. Great Fortitude
Official Text: "Grants you a +2 bonus on your Fortitude saves."
Comments: Paladins certainly aren’t lacking in the Saving Throws area,
so there isn’t much reason to fortify them with Feats.

Greater Two Handed Fighting
Official Text: “Allows you to make additional glancing blow attacks
when wielding a two-handed weapon and moving, and late in your chain of
attacks.
Prerequisite: Strength 17, Base Attack Bonus +11, Improved Two Handed
Fighting,
Comments: I suppose if any class were going to specialize in Two
Handers, paladins would be a good choice. With high Armor Class from
their Aura of Good ability and high Saving Throws, paladins are
veritable defensive machines. It wouldn’t be a far stretch to sacrifice
some of that for a little extra punch on the damage side.

style="vertical-align: top; background-color: rgb(219, 201, 125);"> style="font-weight: bold;">18. Greater Two Weapon Fighting
Official Text: “Increases the number of attacks when fighting with two
weapons.”
Prerequisite: Two Weapon Fighting, Improved Two Weapon Fighting, Base
Attack Bonus +11, Dex 17, Received by Ranger 11
Comments: With needs for high Charisma, Wisdom, and Strength, the
likelihood of meeting the Dexterity requirement for Two Weapon Fighting
feats isn’t so great. A paladin would be better served focusing his
talents elsewhere. If you have a build that will meet the requirements,
this could be the key to making one serious DPS [Damage Per Second]
paladin.

Greater Weapon Focus
Official Text: "Provides a +1 bonus to attack rolls when using [weapons
of the specified type]. This bonus stacks with the Weapon Focus feat. "
Prerequisite: Fighter Level 8, Base Attack Bonus +8, Weapon Focus of
the type to be chosen
Comments: I wish they hadn’t made Fighter levels a prerequisite for
this. If it weren’t for that deviation from pencil and paper (PnP) this
would make a great if not necessary choice. If your paladin build will
include 8 levels of fighter, this is a good option.

style="vertical-align: top; background-color: rgb(219, 201, 125);"> style="font-weight: bold;">20. Improved Critical
Official Text: "Doubles your critical hit range when using
the selected weapon. Applies to a single weapon type. May be taken
multiple times, each time applying to a different weapon type."
Prerequisite: Base Attack Bonus +8
Comments: I consider this a must-have. You will see a significant
increase in Critical Hit output with this. It’s well worth it. style="font-weight: bold;">
