Note that you may want to run the quest concurrently with the href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=378">Ghoulbane
and href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=377">Glowing
Black Stone Heritage Quests, as all these require killing Varsoon.
You no longer need to complete access quests to enter the zones for
this HQ.

At level 28 you can initiate this quest.
"Stiletto's Orders" is a drop (not a chest) off the NPC Stiletto, in
Thundering Steppes near the Giant/Gnoll bridge. His spawn point is
approximately +485,+1077. He does wander back and forth across the
bridge. Kill him for the orders. Be very careful in this area if the
giants and gnolls con to you; adds are very common.

The very first thing that the Orders ask you to do
is go to a certain shipwreck in a certain zone for a treasure. This is
the Cove of Decay, and at least one person in your group must have
access through the Cove of Decay access quest (see above).

Once your group can zone into the correct instance
in CoD, go in and out onto the beach. Have your healer cast Water
Breathing on the group. You must then enter the water and kill the giant
octopus Octogorgon. He has annoying skels who will be busy attacking
your group while you are trying to finish off the named. If you turn on
the skels you will find that more spawn as you kill them unless
Octogorgon is already dead. So kill Octo first.

After killing Octogorgon swim around at the ocean
floor and search for a chest. Only one person has to find the chest and
open it. Inside is a Partially Decayed Hand. Go to the beach and
proceed
to the fire pit. Now make sure your group is ready, buffed and waiting
when the person with the Hand casts it into the Firepit. This will spawn
a level 31^^^ Group x2 mob, which you must kill to advance the quest.
Do
so and then leave CoD.

Now you must proceed to the Ruins of Varsoon. Make
your way to the enchanter's room and examine a book there at location
+263, +118. Now the quest will tell you to kill Weavemaster Esh'Rax. He
is a level 31 spawn in the tailor room. You will probably need to clear
the skels in this room several times to spawn him. The spawn time is 15
minutes or so. He hits hard, so be forewarned. He will drop the
Enchanted Linen of the Weavemaster and the Recipe for Shroud of the
Manastone.

The recipe calls for the linen, fuel (filament), a
glimmering tooth, and a boiled leather pelt. Most of these things are
easy to come by, especially if you already tradeskill, I don't however,
so I managed to find all the components on the broker for fairly cheap.
Your tradeskill
level must be at least 9 to scribe the recipe.I simply made low level
items I had not made before, and raised my crafting level from 7 to 9
in
about an hour. This recipe is no fail, and will yield the Shroud of the
Manastone, a 12-slot bag with 15% weight reduction.

CoI is a very small zone, and
Varsoon will trigger as soon as your group goes down the curving
path and into his inner sanctum. So make sure you are ready before you
head down. Varsoon is not attackable at this time. He will initiate a
monologue that will spawn mobs. There will be three waves of
Extraplanar
creatures, 3 to a group. As soon as you kill one group, Varsoon will
then speak again and sic more mobs on you, so don't use up your power
early! After the 3 waves are finished, a level 34 Ethereal Fiend
spawns
and she is a strong mob. Be wary of her AoEs! When she is down,
Varsoon
declares his intentions towards you, and attacks. He is a level 36^^^
mob, and he certainly will give your group, tired and low on power most
likely, a run for their money. When you have defeated Varsoon,
lookaround for a small sideroom with a chest on the floor. This
contains your Manastone: congratulations! For an HP drain of about
700,
you regain about 200power. It can be used once per minute.
