Butcherblock Mountains
The Butcherblock Mountains sits along the shores of Faydwer in it's ancient majestic state. The gateway to the Echoes of Faydwer expansion you'll find a boathouse with docks leading to Nektulos Forest and Thundering Steppes. Beyond the safety of these docks lies treacherous mountains filled with aviaks, kobolds, and goblins. The wary traveler can make their way through to the Greater Faydark, Lesser Faydark, Kaladim and the Estate of Unrest.
Minimum level:
There is no level restriction for this zone, but it is recommended for
solo/groups between the levels of 20 and 35. At the lower levels of 20-25, players can hunt around the Greater Faydark or docks area with little or no issue solo. There is sufficient group content, but this zone seems to be very supportive of a duo or trio. As you move further away from the safety of the docks and Greater Faydark you'll find tougher creatures waiting to chew on you.
Zones Inside Butcherblock Mountains:
- Kaladim: This will seem a little out of place, but this ancient EverQuest 1 city has been reclaimed by Kobolds and Bugbears. It is intended for level 55+ and consists mainly of group content.
- Estate of Unrest: This zone is currently unavailable at the time this is written but it will be designed for groups at level 70.
Quest Starters:
-
Collection quests:
- Bugbear Ears: You'll need to find 7 of these in this zone. It is a level 35 collection.
- Kobold Paws: You'll need to find 7 of these in the zone. It is a level 35 collection.
- Bugbear Bones: You'll need to find 10 of these in the zone. It is a level 35 collection.
- Solo quests:
- style="font-weight: normal;">Dock Delinquency: This starts with Dockmaster Waulon at the docks and is level 20. He'll have you kill a few rustfiends and coastal basilisks, all which can be found down the beach. You'll also need to kill 6 aqua goblin runts which can be found on the north end of the beach. Reward: Cash and Experience
- Coin for the Captain: Deliver coin to Captain Stonnacky, who is on the other dock. style="font-weight: normal;">Reward: Coin and Experience
- Captain Says: This is a sub quest for Captain Stonnacky. The Captain wants you to relay his orders to three crew members. You'll need to make the right selection in order to advance the quest. You'll want the second one for Bimini, the third for Mizzen, and the first for Tally (who is up the ramp by the way). Reward: Experience and a choice of a level 17 ring, gloves, or boots.
- Nautical Disaster: Waulon will now send you to find a missing book. Walk towards the end of the docks and you're looking at the island you need to visit. On the southern end, near a platform full of goblins you'll see a book on the ground (around 748, 356). Click it to get your update. You'll need to run back to Waulon who will now ask you to find the pages which would've been useful to know while you were on the island. You'll need to keep killing aqua goblin wizards on the island until you get your update. Return to Waulon when you are done. Reward: Experience, cash, and choice of bracers or a dagger.
- Seeking Brulten Hiltstill: Captain Waulon has no more work for you, so he'll send you to Brulten. He can be found at the zone line to Greater Faydark in the north east corner of the zone. Reward: Experience
- The Kobold and the Beautiful: Brulten wants you to kill 20 kobolds. Easy enough, there are plenty near him. Reward: Experience and a little bit of cash.
- Muckflick Message Intercepted: Brulten is concerned about the Muckflick's. He wants you to take out their runner and grab whatever message he's carrying. The Muckflick messenger is pretty fast and runs through the Kobold area nearby. Best to watch his pathing and ambush him. Return to Brulten when you have his message. Reward: Experience, cash, and a choice of foot armor.
- Seeking the Klinkors: Very concerned about what the note says, Brulten tells you to report to Jonedorn Klinkor in East Fort Irontoe (near -300, -220). Reward: Experience
- Axing a Favor: Jonedorn obviously has horrible grammar, but asks you to grab a shipment of axes at the docks. Head to the Butcherblock docks and find a clickable box of axes (710, 606). Return to Jonedorn for your reward. Reward: Experience, a little bit of cash, and +150 faction to Irontoe Brigade.
- The Forest Stikes Back: Jonedorn now asks you to help in the defense against the evil around them. Kill 8 Shadeshire Defenders right outside the walls. Reward: Experience, cash, +150 faction to Irontoe Brigade and a choice of bracelet, cloth helm, or 1 hand crush weapon.

Heritage Quests Involving the Butcherblock Mountains
There is only one Heritage Quest that involves this zone, and that is the Oracle Robe.
Soloing Opportunities:
If you're 15-19:
- What are you doing here? I said this was a level 20+ zone! Ok you MIGHT be able to take stuff near the zone lines.
If you're 20-24:
- Tons of quests to do near the docks, the Greater Faydark zone line, and with the Irontoes (which you'll need faction with if you are going to do Raincaller later). Find them in the middle of the zone, just look for the towers with broken helmets on top.
If you're 25-29:
- This zone is starting to kinda wrap up for you. Finish what quests you can before it stops being all pretty blue. Aquagoblins are heroicalisish and provide good xp at those levels. There still should be some Irontoe quests you haven't been able to finish yet, and this would be a wonderful time.
If you're 30+ :
- It's time to start moving on soon. Make sure to pick up the Oracle Robe quest if you haven't, camp your aquagoblins and move on to Steamfont/Enchanted Lands/Zek. Make you've wrapped up as much of your collection quests as you can.
