Overview

The Fallen Gate is the former first gate of Neriak, the outer lying area
before entering the dark city.   For some unknown reason (or at least
unknown to me) when the halflings known as the Leatherfoot Brigade, attacked the
dark elves (having taken advantage of the distraction of  the war that was
ensuing outside), the tunnels that lead into the city collapsed.  This left
us with only access to Neriaks' outer areas, now known as the "Fallen
Gate".

This zone is packed, wall to wall, with undead and vile Thexians.  We
found quite a few named in Fallen Gate, making this a great place to bring a
group and work on those achievement points.  Beware though, with recent
friendly aggro range changes, it's rather difficult to pull in this zone without
gaining the interest of all the mobs in the area.  Even with proximity
pulls, I had much trouble just bringing one mob, using my taunts and ranged
pulls would occasionally grab entire rooms of mobs!

Minimum Level

Fallen Gate has no level requirements to enter, but I would suggest a minimum
level of 18 assuming that you are going in with a full group.  As stated
above, the aggro changes make needing a full group in Fallen Gate much more
important to deal with the excess mobs that will come at you.  Smaller
groups and duos might want to wait until they are in their early 20s.  I
don't recommend the Fallen Gate for solo play unless you have outgrown it
slightly and are playing against green and blue heroics, and are confidant in
your ability to solo multiple heroic mobs.

Connecting Zones

The Fallen Gate is reached through an entrance in the Commonlands.
Within Fallen Gate, there is another zone called "Vault of the Fallen"
that requires the access quest "Searching the Depths of the Fallen
Gate" to be able to enter.

Quests

"Searching the Depths of the Fallen Gate" - This quest comes
from examining a bookshelf (loc +194, +23, -113) found in the marketplace on the
second floor of one of the buildings.  You are given a journal to read
which activates the quest.  You are first asked to go to the Academy of
Arcane sciences in North Freeport.  There you will need to find a stack of
books to examine that will give you the update.  You are then asked to
return to the Fallen Gate to find 3 items.  The first item is an urn, found
in the marketplace.  It's amongst several other urns near the tents.
The second item is a book found in the upper level of a building in the
marketplace on a bookshelf.  The third item is a bangle locked inside a
chest.  This is found in the bull ring (loc -31, -18, -204).  On your
map, it is the round room on the northern end of the zone.  You'll need the
combo for the chest; 1, 4, 2, 6, 3, 5.  Once you have the bangle, examine
it and it becomes a wearable piece.  You can now access the zone within
Fallen Gate "Vault of the Fallen".  Reward:
Experience, bangle, and access to Vault of the Fallen.

"Charge of the Leatherfoot Brigade - Tippytoe" - This is the
first quest in a series given by the ghost halfling "The Sarge" (loc
+12, 0, +47).  You are first asked to locate various areas inside the
Fallen Gate.  You're first location is the dark shadowy room.  This
room is found northeast (loc -2, 0, -45) of The Sarge.  Unless you wish to
fight the naked found in that room, I suggest hugging the wall and inching
forward to get your update.  The second location is the trading pit in the
marketplace.  This is the sunken area in the first large room in the zone
(loc +88, +4, -82).  The third location is a pool of water, this is the
Pool of Percelia (loc (+25, +6, -112).  Reward:  Experience.

"Charge of the Leatherfoot Brigade - Doopy" - After
completing the former quest given by The Sarge, you are given this quest.
The Sarge asks you to retrieve badges off of mobs found in the
marketplace.  You will need to kill blighted denizens, blighted
shopkeepers, and blighted outcasts.  There is no specific amount to kill,
you keep it up until you get the auto update for each badge from each mob
type.  Reward:  Experience.

"Charge of the Leatherfoot Brigade - Frambert" -  After
completing the first two quests in this series, The Sarge sends you on another
mission.  He asks you to smash the alarms.  The first alarm is found
in the first marketplace area in a building (loc +125, +12, -108).  The
second alarm is found in the second open marketplace area in a building on the
third floor (loc +193 ,+23 , -112).  Both alarms look like globes on
stands.  Reward:  Experience.

"Charge of the Leatherfoot Brigade - The Sarge" - The final
quest in the series given by The Sarge, you are finally asked to find out what
happened to Tippytoe.  Tippytoe's skeleton is found up inside the spider
cave next to a level 24 ^^^ named spider (loc +18, +46, -253).  Inspect his
remains, then inspect the small box next to him, then return to The Sarge.
Reward:  Experience and a gnomish decoder ring.

"Lost Friend in Fallen Gate" - Logan Belchbottom, found just
as you enter the Fallen Gate, has lost his friend Mr. Burpbelly and wishes for
you to find him.  Mr Burpbelly is found as a skeleton in a pot off of the
room with the gluttons and feasters (loc -129, -11, -207).  Reward:
Experience and necklace.

There are several quests that initiate with dropped items off of
mobs.  If anyone has these quests and quest info, please e-mail
them to me
, I'll be sure to give you full credit!

Solo Opportunities

The Fallen Gate is a dungeon, and as such, it's not really meant for solo
play.  The first room upon entering has single up solo mobs, around level
18-20.  Beyond that room, all mobs are heroic.  Quite honestly, I
enjoyed Fallen Gate as a solo player after I had technically
"outgrown" it between levels 32-35.  I spent some time in there
killing green heroics and green ^^^ named mobs, which tend to drop rather good
loot for the levels range.

Group Opportunities

This zone is a group's dream come true.  Packed full of heroic mobs, and
plenty of named mobs, there really isn't a place within the Fallen Gate that
isn't good for grouping.  I highly recommend this zone for some great group
play during your 20s, so go grab some friends and enjoy it!
