Where Were You...

Every American of our generation can answer the question, "Where were
you on September 11, 2001?" Like many others, I was glued to my TV,
watching the events unfold in horror. But when I'd had all I could
absorb of the awful news, I did a strange thing--I logged into
EverQuest; not to play the game, but to reach out to other people. And
what I found there was a global community sharing its grief and support.

I would’ve thought that the game world
might be empty. People around the globe were certainly glued to their
TV sets, just like I’d been earlier. But I wasn’t
alone in Norrath; not by a long shot. Could it be these people had not
heard of the terrible events taking place? As if in answer to my
question, I saw text pop up on the /OOC channel:

/OOC “I live in Australia. Just want to offer support and
comfort to our American brothers and sisters right now.”
