Whether it’s something epic like Asphyxia the Oxygenarian, or a bit more humdrum like Sardu, we all have our favorite character names for online games. If you’re keen on taking advantage of the ability to reserve your character names for Black Desert Online before the official game launch, you’re in luck as that particular process begins today.

The way it works goes something like this:

  • Beginning on February 9, 2016 at 6:00 PM UTC you can reserve your names by visiting the dedicated page on the official website
  • Pre-orders remain available and you will have until February 26 to purchase one of the three available packages if you have not already done so

The second Closed Beta Test is also right around the corner, and is set to run from Feb 18 at 8:00 AM UTC through Feb 22 at 8:00 AM UTC. If you’ve purchased the Explorer’s or Conqueror’s founder’s package you’re all set to participate in CBT2. Otherwise, signups are still being accepted on the official website for a chance to participate.

Based on feedback from the community during the first CBT, a number of improvements have been made that players will be able to experience in CBT2 next week. A brief overview of some of these changes include:

  • All-new Karma system, which balances player kills and death penalties
  • Addition of voiceovers
  • French and German localization
  • Addition of tutorial videos
  • Adjustments to experience gain
  • Maximum player level of 55
  • Improved user interface

Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget that you’ll be able to use any characters created using the standalone Black Desert Online Character Creator during CBT2 and in the full game. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I thoroughly encourage you to do so. While it’s certainly no City of Heroes, the character tools for BDO are still top notch and worth checking out.
