There’s some good news for EverQuest Mac fans today. Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) announced late last month that the Al’Kabor server for the EverQuest Mac edition would not be joining the rest of the community for the free-to-play transition and that the server would close on March 29th.

Following pleas from the community to keep the server going, SOE boss John Smedley has tweeted that the server will remain open with no changes or subscription fees.

Ok EQ Mac Players. You are a wonderful group of players. We will leave it running with no changes or subscription fees. Details soon

Additional details on the announcement will be coming soon. So congratulations are in order for the EverQuest Mac community for saving their server.
