SOE is giving new players a chance to claim a level 95 character (dubbed Heroic Characters) in EverQuest II next month as part of their “Hero’s Call” event. Starting on October 1st and continuing through October 15th, new players can claim one level 95 character per household. Existing accounts can choose to create a new level 95 or upgrade an existing character. And in a move that some will find as a more cringe-worthy factor, additional level 95s can be purchased right out of the Station Store with a “Try Before You Buy” option, which provides a full level of free play from level 85-86 along with 100 alternate advancement points.

New Heroic Characters purchased through the store will cost 3500 Station Cash and come at level 85 with 280 alternate advancement points. EverQuest II Producer Holly Longdale revealed more about the upcoming Heroic Characters in her latest Producer’s Letter with an accompanying Heroic Characters FAQ.

It’s not hard to spot the problems that will likely accompany this new offer but what do you think? Do you like the idea of Heroic Characters, or do you believe it’s just a pay-to-win problem? Be sure to read Shayalyn’s take on the subject and tell us what you think.
