CCP launched its 20th free expansion to EVE Online today, bringing a huge amount of new content and changes to New Eden. A few things that players will find following today’s update  are new “Ghost Sites” located in High Sec, Low Sec, Null Sec, and WH space for pirates, four new mobile structures (Mobile Depot, Mobile Tractor Unit, Mobile Cynosural Inhibitor and Mobile Siphon Unit), a host of ship balance changes, and much more. Additionally, Rubicon offers players the first chance to oppose the powerful monolithic empires of EVE.

You can read more about the expansion on the Rubicon page and in the official patch notes for the full rundown of the latest content and changes.

EVE Online: Rubicon Launches, Sows the Seeds of Galactic Revolution

CCP Games Releases 20th Free Expansion for Most Successful Science Fiction MMO of All Time

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND— Nov 19, 2013—CCP Games, the world’s leading independent massively multiplayer game developer, today announced the launch of EVE Online: Rubicon, the 20th free expansion to the award-winning sci-fi MMO EVE Online®. Rubicon builds upon ten years of constant subscriber growth and EVE’s latest and most successful expansions, Retribution and Odyssey.

Rubicon embodies the EVE pilots’ first true actions of open opposition against the powerful, monolithic empires that used to hold them under their sway.   Through their bold actions, they begin to expand the already unmatched autonomy they have over their massive and persistent game universe.

In EVE Online: Rubicon, rebellion against empire control is only one of the conflict drivers. Pilots wage guerilla-style warfare against other players, raid their controlled space in new ships meant for both exploration and combat, and erode industrial power from deep behind enemy lines by using mobile, player-owned structures that leech resources and provide tactical support. Rubicon offers much for individual capsuleers and small-sized fleets looking to carve out adventure, profit and infamy within the nearly 8,000 solar systems of the EVE Universe.

Rubicon continues where Odyssey left off with new exploration content in the form of Ghost Sites—lucrative and dangerous vaults hidden away in space by the pirate factions of EVE. Pilots have begun to encounter the secret technologies hidden within and to manufacture their own implants in brazen defiance of the empires’ explicit commands.

In addition, the Marauder, Electronic Attack Frigate, Interceptor and Interdictor class hulls headed back to the shipyards for re-engineering and other balancing changes aimed to change the warfare “meta” for fleets of all sizes. New certificate and ship identification systems help novice players ease into one of the world’s most indisputably deep games and give veteran players a greater sense of what to accomplish next. Dozens more big and small changes help maintain EVE’s tradition as a sophisticated and powerful sci-fi simulation.

“With Rubicon, we’re taking the first, decisive steps towards our vision for EVE Online’s second decade,” said Andie Nordgren, senior producer of EVE Online. “We are at the beginning of a multi-expansion arc that will forever alter the face of New Eden by offering players more power over the universe than ever before and setting them upon an inevitable path to ascension.”
