EA execs are smiling big today following a report from EA boss John Riccitiello to Wedbush Technology on the launch of Mass Effect 3. According to Riccitiello, Mass Effect 3 shipped over 3.5 million units, and over 890k of those sold within the first 24 hours in NA alone.

Mass Effect 3 wasn’t the only success story of the day. The day one DLC “From Ashes” experienced huge sales with GameStop recording 40% of customers choosing to purchase the additional code, which has been a cringe-worthy for some gamers. The success probably means we’ll be seeing even launch day one DLCs in the future.
