Despite my jab at it above, the original Ragnaros vs. Nefarian Tavern Brawl was a ton of fun. Whether you liked that, or throwing bananas around, or any other particular Brawl, rest assured that your favorite game mode is not gone forever. Confirmation of this came today from Senior Game Designer Ben Brode (in a conversation with the esteemed Professor Oak.)

This is excellent news, especially for those who may have missed a particular Brawl, or didn't get to play it to their heart's content. The question that hasn't been answered yet is whether or not we'll have the option to select a specific Tavern Brawl to play, choosing from all that have previously occurred. Obviously, there would be the issue of queue times, but even having the option to select a previous Brawl to play with a friend would certainly be welcome. This is a question that will have to wait for another day, but for now it's good to know that Rag vs. Nef will be an option once again in the future.
