Earlier today we reported that Alganon creator David Allen had departed from Quest Online, but in a recent post his replacement Derek Smart stepped in to clear a few things up. As it turns out David Allen did not depart but was actually fired back in February for what Smart called "acting against the best interest of the company" and a few other things Smart didn't go into detail on. Smart simply states in his post, "I am not at liberty to go into any further details at this time but only to say that eventually everything we do can and will catch up with us. It is only a matter of time. "

According to Smart, Jason Blood, a long-time friend of Allen's was also released for the same reasons and a third employee, Hue Henry, left on favorable terms after the firings took place. Smart went on to explain how he feels the game's soft launch in December was a mistake and should never have happened. It also seems that he doesn't like the comparison of some of the game's content to that of Blizzard's flagship MMORPG, World of Warcraft.

This whole "WoW look-a-like" rubbish, is gone. I've essentially asked them to throw it all out and for the artists to come up with the game's own unique look and feel for for both the web UI as well as the game UI itself.

Smart goes on to outline some of his plans for the game moving forward, including a full paid subscription refund with the game's launch. An email will be sent out to address the setup and allow players to request a refund.

Derek Smart seems to mean business as he is optimistic, but also acknowledges the fact that he doesn't know if the game can recover from its soft-launch troubles, but he ensures players that the team is dedicated to making the game work. Click here to read Derek Smart's full post.
