Rock, Paper, Shotgun has compiled a list of developers and publishers that are members of EA to find out where they stand on the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). Rock, Paper, Shotgun has compiled a list of ESA members to find out where they stand on the legislation and contacted others that are a little less clear on their stance. The ESA has recently voiced its unwavering support for SOPA despite many of its members publicly distancing themselves from the bill.

The SOPA legislation if passed will grant unprecedented power to IP holders to shut down access any website they feel is infringing on its IP without judicial oversight. But as a nice article on the subject at GamesIndustry.biz points out, it’s a flawed process that will not stop piracy and inevitably do more damage than good to freedom of speech and expression on the Internet.

If you would like to see what members of the ESA have made their stance clear on the legislation, head over to Rock, Paper, Shotgun and take a look at the list. Please note that not all members have responded as of yet, but the list will be updated as those responses come in, but you will find confirmation from such entities as 38 Studios, Trion Worlds, EA, Nintendo and more that ranges from definitive to indecisive and sometimes even confusing answers.
