I missed this piece of news on Friday, but I'm glad I found it this morning. Star Citizen the trading and space combat simulator which has made well over $40,000,000 since its inception, is running a competition to allow teams of fans to design ships. In this fourth episode of "The Next Great Startship" the modding competition is on sprint mode.

The video itself is lengthy at around 30 minutes, but it's definitely a fun watch. It has plenty of the modding teams super excited about the next designs and has a chat with David Hobbins the concept artist at Cloud Imperium Games. Even if you aren't interested in Star Citizen, the footage of how David Hobbins works is well worth watching.
