This month makes one year since the official launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) and BioWare has decided to announce its first expansion just ahead of the game’s first anniversary with Rise of the Hutt Cartel. The first digital expansion to SWTOR is set to arrive in spring 2013 and pit players of the Empire and Republic against the rising Hutt Cartel threat.

Rise of the Hutt Cartel is priced at $19.99 for free players and at $9.99 for subscribers. Anyone that pre-orders before January 7th, 2013 will also receive five days of early access to the new fully-voiced story content. Some of the other new content includes the new duel faction planet of Makeb, a level cap increase to 55, and five new levels of story missions.
