Elwynn Forest is a vast and tranquil woodland lying near the Redridge Mountains. It is the home of the human stronghold of Stormwind and as such is the starting point for all new Human characters. With pristine weather, fertile lands, and thick ancient forests Elwynn is one of the more beautiful zones in Azeroth, rivaled only by those zones controlled by the Night Elves.

Don’t let Elwynn Forest’s appearance fool you though, Elwynn is home to a host of problems and unprepared travelers here would do best to stick to the roadways here to avoid trouble. Thankfully the problems here are small, even after the Cataclysm, and the roads are heavily patrolled by Stormwind guards giving new Human players a relatively safe place to adventure.

After a short scene briefly detailing Human history and current affairs, new players who will find themselves plopped down in a sleepy section of Elwynn Forest known as Northshire. It is here in this relatively safe locale that Human players will begin their adventures in Azeroth. Players of other races may quest here as well, as long as they can manage to make it to the zone. For the most part though, most players choose to stick with their original starting zone.

As new Human players enter the world they will find themselves standing in front of Northshire Abby. This is the solitary quest hub in Northshire. On the steps stands Marshal McBride who will give players their very first quest; Beating them Back! Completing this first quest will not only introduce players to one of the many small conflicts in Northshire, but will also open other quests as well. Don’t forget while questing to make use of Blizzard’s handy dandy in game quest helper!

Northshire

  • Location: See Zone Map (1)
  • Total Number of Available Quests: Thirteen
  • Elite/Group Quests: N/A
  • Tips: All quests in Northshire will be picked up and turned in and around Northshire Abby. The grand majority of mobs in this zone are not hostile and will not attack unless attacked first making this a safe and easy starting point for new players. Northshire, like most other starting locations, holds no flight path.
After you’ve cut your teeth and made your mark in Northshire by helping to end the Blackrock Invasion it will be time to leave this safe little nook and move out into the world. The quest “Report to Goldshire” will lead you to Goldshire, your next stop on your journey through Elwynn Forest. While leaving Northshire be sure to pick up one last quest (which also turns in at Goldshire) from Falkhaan Isenstrider found just before you leave the gates protecting Northshire.

    Goldshire

    • Location: See Zone Map (2)
    • Total Number of Available Quests: Thirteen
    • Elite/Group Quests: N/A
    • Tips: N/A
By now you’ve completed all the available quests in Goldshire and gotten your first taste of Stormwind City which means that it’s time to follow one of several breadcrumb quests that you have probably picked up by now. “Further Concerns”, “A Visit with Maybell” and “Westbrook Garrison Needs Help!” will all lead you to various quest hubs in Goldshire. The first on your list to visit should be the Maclure Vineyards and Stonefield Farm with “A Visit with Maybell” where you will find yourself amidst a feud that makes the Hatfields and McCoys look tame.

    Maclure Vineyards

    • Tips: When completing the quest “Goldtooth” be sure to dispose of all other enemies in the area before you engage Goldtooth otherwise you may find yourself in a sticky situation.
After engaging in some work around the farms, it’s time to bring the star-crossed lovers together at last, despite the circumstances. To do this follow the quest “Note to William” which will lead you back to Goldshire for some professional help from none other than William Pestle.

    Goldshire

    • Tips: The Kelp Fonds needed for the quest “Collecting Kelp” only drop from the Murlocs. These plants, sadly enough, do not grow anywhere in the lake.
With the problem of how to get the two lovers together solved for the moment it’s time once again to dig in your quest log and follow the breadcrumb to your next destination. This time our breadcrumb of choice will be “Further Concerns” which will take us to the Eastern Elywnn Bridge to lend aid to Guard Thomas who is stationed there.

    Eastern Elwynn Bridge

    • Tips: N/A
After lending your aid to Guard Thomas, you will have the option of picking from two breadcrumb quests that will lead you to opposite ends of Elwynn Forest. “Cloth and Leather Armor” will lead players to the east to Eastevale Logging Camp, while “Westbrook Garrison Needs Help!” picked up previously in Goldshire will lead players far to the west where to Westbrook Garrison. Being the lazy player that I am I decided to first go to Eastvale Logging Camp, since it is significantly closer to the Eastern Elwynn Bridge.

    Eastvale Logging Camp

    • Tips: N/A
Collect some wood and linen and take out some nasty Bandits along the way before it will be time to follow the last breadcrumb for inside the zone remaining in your quest log “Westbrook Garrison Needs Help!”. Use the flight path found in Eastvale Logging Camp to fly back to Goldshire to save yourself a long walk.

    Westbrook Garrison

    • Location: See Zone Map (5)
    • Available Quests: Three
    • Elite/Group Quests: Wanted: Hogger
    • Tips: “Wanted: Hogger” is a group quest that in all likelihood can be soloed by most classes at level 9 and above. However, players should note that Hogger can hit quite hard and also summons several adds to his aid when his health bar hit’s around the halfway point. Once Hogger has been defeated do not forget to pick up the quest that can be found from an item on the ground directly behind his spawn location.
With the Gnoll problem at Westbrook Garrison taken care of, and the infamous Hogger in custody, it’s finally time for us to say goodbye to Elwynn Forest. If you have completed all the quests in this zone, your quest log at this point should hold two breadcrumb quests leading you forward; “Hero’s Call: Westfall”, and “Furlbrow’s Deed”, both of which will lead you into the mysterious and gloomy zone of Westfall.

Congratulations on surviving Elwynn Forest and completing your first 10 levels!

Dun Morogh is a snowy region surprisingly located near the hot fire and  lava filled region of the Searing Gorge. Surrounded by the Khaz Mountains on all sides, Dun Morogh is a natural fortress and as such is the perfect home for the Dwarven stronghold of Ironforge.  Dun Morogh plays host to both Gnomish and Dwarven races.

Before the Cataclysm the Gnomes and Dwarves began their journey in Azeroth in the same location, however with the recent efforts to retake the Gnomish homeland of Gnomeregan well underway these two races no longer share their initial starting area although their quest lines do merge later on down the line.

After a short scene briefly detailing Dwarven history, new players who choose the Dwarf race will find themselves plopped down in Coldridge Valley, one of the quieter sections of the larger zone of  Dun Morogh. It is here in this relatively safe locale that new Dwarf players will begin their adventures in Azeroth. Players of other races may quest here as well, as long as they can manage to make it to the zone. For the most part though, most players choose to stick with their original starting zone.

As new Dwarven players enter the world they will find themselves just outside the Dwarven fortress of Anvilmar, faced with an ongoing battle between several Dwarves and nasty Rockjaw Invaders. Here players will pick up their first quest “Hold the Line!” in which they will be assisting Joren Ironstock in beating back the invaders. Completing this first quest will jump start the players questing career and will open a slew of other quests for completing. Don’t forget while questing to make use of Blizzard’s handy dandy in game quest helper!

    Coldridge Valley

    • Tips: Even though it’s a starting level quest the items needed for “All the Other Stuff” have terrible drop rates.
After helping with all the preparations you can for the impending lockdown in Anvilmar, you find out the local Trolls have engaged the help of some nasty fire elementals. Of course you should immediatly report your findings to to those who will know what to do with the information. Collect your belongings and say goodbye to Coldridge Valley as you follow the breadcrumb quest "Pack Your Bags" to the next stop in Dun Morgoh; Kharanos.

    Kharanos

    • Tips: The Dwarves you need to speak to in order to complete the quest “Forced to Watch from Afar” can be found at various locations inside the cave at the Grizzled Den.
With your help the Dwarves at Kharanos have managed to push toward Frostmane Retreat, hopefully indicating that soon the Troll village will be open for attack. To seal the deal you must seek out the Gnomeregan covert ops team at Steelgrill’s Depot just north of Kharanos by following the quest “Help from Steelgrill’s Depot”.

    Steelgrill's Depot

    • Tips: N/A
It’s time for you to head to the front lines of the battle between the Dwarves and Trolls. The fastest way to get there? Use the newly developed Ultrasafe Personnel Launcher to deploy yourself to Frostmane Retreat with the quest “The Ultrasafe Personnel Launcher“. Be afraid. Very afraid.

    Frostmane Retreat

    • Tips: Beware of the stealthed Scorpids that lurk around this outpost and don’t forget to pick up the flight path here!
The quest “Strike From Above” will ask you to use a Signal Flare to call in air strikes at two separate locations at the northern and southern ends of Frostmane Retreat. The first location is inside a circle of stones that resembles a camp fire, minus the fire, the other is found on the other side of the encampment in front of the big drum directly beside one of the huts.

    Amberstill Ranch

    • Tips: Vagash (needed for the quest “Protecting the Herd”) hits extremely hard for a non elite mob and players under level 9 may find themselves struggling to kill him.

The Frostmane Trolls will think twice before stealing the Rams from Amberstill Ranch thanks to your efforts and once again it’s time to move on. Follow the quest “Help for the Quarry” to Gol’Bolar Quarry.

    Gol'Bolar Quarry

    • Tips: N/A

You’ve been a great help in securing the mines and rescuing the trapped miners and with your work done here you are being sent on to check on Sergeant Behrum at Bahrum’s Post with the quest “Trouble at the Lake”.

    Behrum's Post

    • Tips: N/A
Disturbing news comes to light after the capture of some Dark Iron plans and with the quest “Get to the Airfield” it is essential that you make it to the Ironforge Airfield as quickly as possible.

    Ironforge Airfield

    • Tips: N/A

How exactly did the Dark Iron Dwarves manage to infiltrate and attack the Ironforge Airfield without anyone’s knowledge, especially that of their supposed leader, Moria Thaurissan. Head to Ironforge and find yourself some answers with the quest “Demanding Answers”.

    Ironforge

    • Tips: The High Seat, where Moria Thaurissan can be found can be accessed through the Great Forge. The Dark Iron Embassy can be found by leaving the High Seat and turning left. Continue straight and you will see a building directly in your path with two Dark Iron Guards outside. The Ambassador is inside.
After you’ve seized the culprit behind the Dark Iron attacks and collected your reward be sure to pick up the quest “ Reinforcements for Loch Modan” from Mountaineer Barleybrew, who can also be found standing near the doorway of the High Seat in Ironforge. This quest will lead you out of Dun Morogh to lend your services where you can in the next zone on your leveling journey; Loch Modan.

Congratulations on completing your first ten levels!

The new home of the reclusive and often aloof Night Elf race, Teldrassil is an island found off the coast of Kalimdor. Here on Teldrassil the Circle of the Ancients and many druids pooled their powers to create another World Tree, after the power of the first was spent to defeat Archimonde and his minions, to once again grant the race immortality.

Unlike the first however, Teldrassil has not been granted the blessing of the Aspects and therefore it’s powers are often unpredictable and unstable. Despite this, Teldrassil has grown to enormous size literally holding the entire Night Elf island in it’s braches, including the city of Darnassus. A beautiful and magical zone, Teldrassil is a wonderful and pleasing place to adventure.

After a short cut scene briefly detailing Night Elf history and current affairs, new players who choose the Night Elf race will find themselves plopped down in Shadowglen, one of the quieter sections of the larger zone of  Teldrassil. It is here in this relatively safe locale that new players will begin their adventures in Azeroth. Players of other races may quest here as well, as long as they can manage to make it to the zone. For the most part though, most players choose to stick with their original starting zone.

As players enter the world here they will find themselves in tranquil Shadowglen just outside of Aldrassil, with their first quest “The Balance of Nature” directly in front of them. Completing this first quest will give players an idea of what it means to be a Night Elf and will open a slew of other quests for completion. Don’t forget while questing to make use of Blizzard’s handy dandy in game quest helper!

    Shadowglen

    • Tips: Don’t forget to grab the quest “Dolanaar Delivery” picked up along the road on your way out of Shadowglen!

After completing the starting quests in Shadowglen and learning more of the Night Elf race and their current plight, it is time for you to move on. Follow the quest “Teldrassil: Passing Awareness” and deliver the phial of water to Corithras Moonrage in Dolanaar, your first stop in the greater world.

    Dolanaar

    • Tips: N/A
With your work at stopping the corruption plaguing Teldrassil done in Dolanaar you are asked to run one final errand for Syral Bladeleaf with the quest “Denalan’s Earth”. You will be delivering a rare sample of earth to Denalan who can be found at the next quest hub in line; Lake Al’Ameth.

    Lake Al'Ameth

    • Tips: N/A
After collecting sprouts and seedlings from the nearby Timberlings for Denalan to use in his experiments he asks you to take a sample to a friend of his at the Wellspring Hovel with the quest “Rellian Greenspyre”.

    Wellspring Hovel

    • Tips: The quest “Teldrassil: The Burden of the Kaldorei” can be picked up west of the Wellspring Hovel, just down the main road.
The corruption found in the Timberlings has hopefully been contained thanks to you, and now it is time to move on once again. The quest “Teldrassil: The Burden of the Kaldorei” will lead players to the Oracle Glade where they will find the moonwell needed to complete this quest plus several new quests as well.

    The Oracle Glade

    • Tips: The quest “The Shimmering Frond” can be picked up from a large purple glowing plant found near the harpies needed for the quest “The Enchanted Glade”.
Your service complete at the Glade you are sent on your way once again, this time to gather water from one last moonwell and hopefully stop the source of the corruption in Teldrassil once and for all.

    Pools of Arlithrien

    • Tips: N/A
Hopefully with a little help from Elune you have helped put an end to the corruption once and for all. Only time will tell. Your final task in Teldrassil will be to deliver the waters you have collected to Tyrande Whisperwind in the Temple of the Moon in Darnassus. While there be sure to speak with Sentinel Cordressa Briar bow (standing near Tyrande) who will give you the quest “Breaking the Waves of Change” imploring you to head with all speed to the next zone in your journey; Darkshore.

Congratulations on completing your first ten levels!

After a short scene briefly detailing Gnomish history and their current state of affairs, new players who choose this race will find themselves plopped down in a section of the larger zone of  Dun Morogh. It is here in this relatively safe locale that new Gnome players will begin their adventures in Azeroth. Players of other races may quest here as well, as long as they can manage to make it here. For the most part though, most players choose to stick with their original starting zone.

As new Gnome players enter the world they will now find themselves inside their ancestral home of Gnomeregan, faced with the task of rounding up the survivors inside. Here players will pick up their first quest “Pinned Down” in which they will be asked to clear out some of the leper Gnomes making rescue nearly impossible. Completing this first quest will jump start the players questing career and will open a slew of other quests for completing. But do it quickly before the radiation here turns you into a leper Gnome!

Don’t forget while questing to make use of Blizzard’s handy dandy in game quest helper!

    Gnomeregan

    • Tips: N/A
You’ve taken out some leper Gnomes and saved more than your share of Gnomish survivors all without becoming a leper Gnome yourself. Now it’s time to head to the surface with the quest “The Future of Gnomeregan”.

    New Tinkertown

    • Tips: N/A
With plans to retake Gnomeregan once and for all underway, and a possible cure for the leper Gnomes in the making, it’s time to lend your talents elsewhere. This time you will be seeking out Jessup with the quest “What’s Keeping Jessup?“ who has gone missing attempting to close up Trogg caves near Frostmane Hold.

    Frostmane Hold

    • Tips: N/A
The Trogg tunnel has been successfully blown up in an explosion that would make even a smelly Goblin proud and the only thing left for you to do is to return to New Tinkertown and make your report with the quest “One More Thing”.

    New Tinkertown

    • Tips: N/A
While the High Tinker and his military advisors finalize the plans for the attack on Razio Crushcog you are to go ahead to Brewnall Village with the quest “Staging in Brewnall” to begin preparations there.

    Brewnall Village

    • Tips: Do not forget to speak with High Tinker Mekkatorque before beginning the battle with Razlo Crushcog or you will find yourself in quite the sticky situation.
With Crushcog defeated the Gnomes can finally focus on planning to take back Gnomeregan. Your work here for the time being is done, and now it’s time to pay back some old debts and head to Kharanos with the quest “On to Kharanos” where the Dwarves there are threatened by the Frostmane Trolls.

    Kharanos

    • Tips: The Dwarves needed for the quest “Forced to Watch from Afar” are found inside the Grizzled Den even though the in game quest helper makes it appear they are outside.
With your help the push towards Frostmane Retreat has been successful and the Dwarven and Gnomish forces will soon be in place to launch a full on attack. It’s your job now to visit the Gnomeregan covert ops found at Steelgrill’s Depot with the quest “Help from Steelgrill’s Depot” and learn more about their new technology to launch operatives behind enemy lines.

    Steelgrill's Depot

    • Tips: Ultrasafe is not exactly the word this writer would use for this launching device as your parachute is likely to not deploy leaving the player nothing more than a pancake on the snow.
You’ve made it behind enemy lines with the quest “The Ultrasafe Personnel Launcher“, probably with a few new scratches from the journey, but you’ve made it none the less. Now it’s time to get down to business and see what you can do here at Frostmane Retreat.

    Frostmane Retreat

    • Tips: The quest “Strike From Above” will ask you to use a Signal Flare to call in air strikes at two separate locations at the northern and southern ends of Frostmane Retreat. The first location is inside a circle of stones that resembles a camp fire, minus the fire, the other is found on the other side of the encampment in front of the big drum directly beside one of the huts.
Congratulations on a successful mission and ensuring that the Frostmane will think twice about staying in the area. Now it’s time to move on once again to check out more reports of Troll raids to the north at Amberstill Ranch with the quest “A Hand at the Ranch”.

    Amberstill Ranch

    • Tips: Vagash (needed for the quest “Protecting the Herd” hits extremely hard for a non elite mob and players under level 9 may find themselves struggling to kill him.
The herd is safe for the time being from all immediate threats and it’s time for you to move onward. Follow the quest “Help for the Quarry” where you will be seeking out Sergeant Flinthammer’s cousin at the Gol’Bolar Quarry who apparently has a tiny Trogg problem.

    Gol'Bolar Quarry

    • Tips: The majority of the Rockjaw Bonesnappers needed to complete the quest “Those Blasted Troggs!” are found inside the mine, while the Rockjaw Skullthumpers are found outside.
The Troggs have been put in their place and you are being sent on your way to check in on and offer aid to those at Bahrum’s Post with the quest “Trouble at the Lake”.

Azuremyst Isle is one of the two islands that make up the Azuremyst Isles found off the coast of northern Kalimdor. This Isle is the site of the Draenei ship crash which left crystalline shards in its wake greatly affecting the local flora and fauna here. The Draenei city, The Exodar, is built in and around the main ship crash site in the western part of the zone. The Draenei, much in tune with nature, work diligently to halt and reverse the effects of their ship’s landing and hope to restore the natural beauty of this land sometime in the near future.

After a short cut scene briefly filling players in on their race of choice‘s history and most current affairs, new players who choose the Draenei  race will find themselves in Ammen Vale, the beginning point for their race, and one of the quieter sections of Azuremyst Isle. It is here in this relatively safe locale that new players will begin their adventures in Azeroth. Players of other races may quest here as well, as long as they can manage to make it to the zone. For the most part though, most players choose to stick with their original starting zone.

New Draenei just entering the world will find themselves on a strange spacecraft faced with their first quest, “You Survived“, in front of them. Apparently the Draenei ship, the Exodar, has crashed and you are one of the few surviving Draenei left. It is your duty to continue on to the crash site to lend what aid you can. Completing this first entry level quest will unlock a slew of other quests for completion.

Don’t forget while questing to make use of Blizzard’s handy dandy in game quest helper!

    Ammen Vale

    • Location: See Zone Map (1)
    • Total Number of Available Quests: Nineteen
    • Elite/Group Quests: N/A
    • Tips: N/A
The damage to the wildlife around the crash site is thankfully reversible and more Draenei have survived than anyone could have hoped, however it seems that not all are thrilled about the Draenei’s survival. Blood Elves even now plot and plan against the Draenei and you must seek aid! Follow the quest “Travel to Azure Watch” to deliver the warning to someone who may be able to help.

    Azure Watch

    • Tips: N/A
The focus of your questing here so far; healing an injured Night Elf Priestess, has not been a total success, however, now the Draenei are aware that she is not alone, and that those with her most likely think that the Draenei race are an evil one. Looks like you have some explaining to do. Head south with the quest “The Prophecy of Velen” to do just that.

    Odesyus' Landing

    • Tips: The drop rate for the Skittering Crawler Meat needed for the quest “Cookie’s Jumbo Gumbo” has a semi-horrible drop rate. Be prepared to spend some time and kill a ton of crabs to complete this one.
After weeding out a traitor and proving yourself to be very undemon like at Odesyus’ Landing it’s time once again to head back to Azure Watch with the quest “Deliver Them From Evil…”.

    Azure Watch

    • Tips: N/A
Named as the promised one, you must now travel north to Stillpine Hold, the last quest hub in this zone to face your most daunting challenge yet.

    Stillpine Hold

    • Tips: While hauling the tadpoles for the quest “The Future of Rockpool” you will find that every time you are attacked you will drop the chest with the tadpoles on top. Simply kill the mob that is attacking you and then you can collect the chest and start pulling again.
Your time here on Azuremyst Isle has seemed short, but you have accomplished much. You have survived the wilds and proven yourself to be everything a young Draenei should be and more. You have finally come of age and it’s time to move on to the next zone in your leveling journey by following the quest “Coming of Age”, picked up in Azure Watch, which will eventually lead you to Bloodmyst Isle.

Congratulations on completing your first ten levels!
