When Sleep Deprivation

Cody brings in a guest blogger.

Despite our fairly strict adherence to MMOG news and features, every
once in awhile something in the gaming industry catches our eye. At
this year's Leipzig GC, it was SPORE, which was showing a demo to any
press that would attend. Garrett Fuller made it to the showing and was
blown away by what he saw. Read his write up on Cody's blog (along with
the Fallout 3 preview) in the guest article "Spore Preview from Leipzig
GC '07".

Players begin the game in the cell phase, which lasts for about thirty
minutes and features the players trying to survive and eat as much food
as they can in order to grow and develop. Once you get through the cell
phase of the game, the theme song for Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space
Odyssey blares on your speakers and your creature evolves. This
evolution leads you onto the land itself. Crawling about as a tiny
creature, you must either fight or befriend other creatures wandering
around the land and eventually mate with one of your own species.
