Welcome to this seventh day of October, 2014. I’m John “Boomjack” Hoskin and this is Here Comes The Boom – EP #24.
The Happiest Place On Earth Comes to Steam
Steam has just about anything that a PC gamer could want. EA titles aside (shakes fist at Origin) you can download most games directly through Steam, play them anywhere and not worry about finding that game key when you want to reinstall on your new computer.
I swear my son and I have installed the Dawn of War series at least six times on different computers over the years. Why can’t anyone come out with a new…good…Warhammer title? Is it really that hard?
On a happier note…
One publisher that always been notably absent from Steam has been Disney. It’s not like their games live high on my list of must play titles. My kids are too old for most of their titles and I can’t see myself picking up the Disney Princess and Fairy Pack no matter how good a deal it is.
For some of you, with younger children or who are just still younger children at heart this coupling of PC behemoth with entertainment gargantuan is a stroke of luck. Enjoy.
I’m still trying to find time to play Destiny and even though my casual play has only let me level my Titan and my Warlock to 24 I’d love to try out Iron Banner this week. It’s too bad I’m not high enough level.
As much as Destiny compels me to play, I’m torn about how to spend my time as I’d love to spend some of it with Shadow of Mordor and Alien Isolation. Too much good stuff all at once. First world problems indeed.
With so many great titles available my mind is spinning like that bouncing, happy dog you know when its owner drops the bag of dog food and it explodes all over the kitchen floor.
“How much of this can I consume in the shortest possible time? Woof!”
Not only that, but what platform do I buy the game on? I started out a PC Gamer and that’s where my roots remain, but I was also part of the team that put XBox in your living room. Today I have an XBox ONE, a PS4 and a PC with 780ti GTX in it. I’m spoiled by gamer standards, but with great power comes great responsibility. I can’t decide which platform to buy games for.
I ended up buying Destiny for the PS4 because I believed that there would be a larger community there. In the end that isn’t necessarily true, but I am enjoying the PS4 experience.
Shadow of Mordor can be played on all three platforms and historically that would mean that I would buy it for the PC, but I’m either getting older, lazier or both because sitting back with a controller and playing seems almost…. Dare I say…. Luxurious. It is decadent; no two ways about it. Ah the problems I have.
Are you playing Shadow or Mordor and if so, which platform? Do you enjoy it? Help a simple minded gamer out!
Vin Diesel Fact: Vin Diesel can slam a revolving door.
Now on to something more entertaining…
Because the real world is usually more humorous than the virtual one. Here are some real world stories. You can’t make this stuff up.
