Italian site Mmorpgitalia recently got the chance to speak with the Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (AoC) Game Director, Craig Morrison, about AoC's upcoming expansion, Rise of the Godslayer. In the interview, Morrison explains the decision to choose Khitai as the basis for the next expansion and how having the eastern-influenced region should help with the planned launch of AoC in Korea. But one of the juicy parts of the interview is about the Alternate Advancement system, a mechanic many AoC players have been waiting for. Morrison explains how the system will allow players to specialize their characters and expand their play options beyond a single restricted role.

The alternative advancement system will allow players options for specializing their class, of course the system is also being designed so that over time, the players can earn virtually all the available abilities if they keep working through it, meaning that they will end up with a great many options for the character and are not restricted to one single role.

Morrison goes on to explain a little about each of the expansions playfields and touches on some of the new Tier 4 raiding that will be introduced in the capital city of Pai Kang. The full interview is available in English here.
