If you've been following the sage out of Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, you already know that Stargate Worlds is dead in the water and that the developer’s third-person shooter, Stargate Resistance, will be getting the axe on January 15th, 2010 as part of the licensing termination from MGM in November.

"Save Stargate", a website dedicated to rallying Stargate fans behind the two doomed projects in the hopes of saving them, recently posted a new interview with Jim Brown, Creative Director of Dark Comet Games (DCG) and a founder of Cheyenne Mountain Games about the events that plagued development of the two games and how he hopes the two can be saved.

style="font-style: italic;">Can Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment convince MGM to give them another chance?

Brown goes on to explain that DCG, the company that took over the operation of Stargate Resistance in May, was a satellite company created for the sole purpose of ensuring that funding for Stargate Resistance could be used solely for that game given that CME had fallen into disarray. But the rights to the game were eventually returned to CME, who had sued DCG, eventually leading to DCG shutting down.

Dark Comet was formed most specifically to market Stargate Resistance, so our investor's money could be used to market, and not litigate CME's troubles. Sadly, CME was thrown into Receivership during that period, which tied our hands. We could not take marketing action until the Receiver was fully installed, and approved our actions, which ate up a lot of our investor’s money just keeping the team paid and moving forward for the months this took.

According to Brown, CME is working hard to put together a solid plan for Stargate Worlds and Stargate Resistance to present to MGM before the January 15th shut down of Stargate Resistance, presumably in the hopes of getting the license back. Could this virtual Titanic possibly set sail once again? Tell us what you think.
