Star Trek Online will be heading into open beta Tuesday, January 12th, and will run through January 26th, 2010, but you can start getting ready if you have access to the open beta through a pre-order by heading to Cryptic's download page and downloading the client. This will vary depending on where you pre-ordered from, but you can get the client in one of several places. If you haven't pre-ordered your copy of Star Trek Online yet you can keep checking back here for possible beta key giveaways.
