Square Enix will publish the title with an original, cinematic story having been created for it. However, it must be noted that there are no "open-world" features, which could disappoint some gamers.

While Marvel's Avengers is hotly awaited by the public, anyone hoping for a new DC game to go along with it might be let down. An untitled Batman game is currently in development but there are no details about when it could be released, while another DC open-world game is mooted.

A mouth-watering proposition that gamers will be very excited about is the prospect of a new fighting video game that is based around DC and Marvel Comics characters. NetherRealm Studios, which has made games in the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchises, has confirmed it has held some initial talks with Marvel about a potential new game of this kind.

"We would love to make, like, a Marvel fighting game, or Marvel versus DC," NetherRealm’s Ed Boon said in an interview with Game Informer last year. "I think it would be the coolest."
