For those of you who still havent succumbed to the irresistible allure of
allowing a zombie to feast on your brains - (I know its hard, but try to
resist!) - you may recall that last week I rambled out a post about the add-on
discussion over at the official World of Warcraft site. Since my own brain is
still largely intact, that post got me thinking. Why not continue the theme by
whipping up a list of PlayerScore PlayerTips?
After first consulting the Ten Ton Unicorn of Doom (pictured above), I sat down with a
key member of the PlayerScore PitCrew (the original creator of GearScore to be
exact) to let the zombies feast on pick his brains for a bit. The results are the following list of Seven PlayerTips for PlayerScore
Users.
So if the zombies havent eaten your brains and you dont want a pissed off
unicorn camping on your front lawn, read on and enjoy!
1. One thing that is really cool that people might not know about is that if
somebody whispers you in-game, you can mouse over their name in the chat box and
it will show you their GearScore. If you don't know it (IE you don't have the
updater or haven't scanned this person before) then you can SHIFT-RIGHT click
their name, and it will build a URL you can paste in your web browser to see
that player's character online.
2. You can change the size of the PlayerScore GUI by editing "UI Scale" in the
options menu. While this one seems fairly obvious, youd be surprised how many
people either request this feature, or complain about the UI scale in-game.
3. Speaking of options, the options are very expansive in this add-on. It breaks
my heart when somebody says "I uninstalled your add-on because its too bulky".
That hurts, because almost every tiny thing can be disabled to save memory.
Don't care about PvP? You can disable PvP scores and the PvP tab. Don't like the
hammer? Turn it off! Don't like the inspection integration? Turn it off! Type
"/ps" to enter the options guys!
4. Don't ride a Celestial Steed. Players using PlayerScore will see a negative
flag when inspecting you if youre on the steed at the time of the inspection.
5. Ride a Spectral Tiger, Players on Spectral tigers are AWESOME, so you get
bonus flags and coolness factor.
6. Sign up as a member on PlayerScore.com and you can keep track of your toons,
and monitor if people make negative comments. Soon you'll also be able to "Claim your
toon" and earn special titles in game, respond to negative feedback, and more!
(Watch for more details on character claiming soon!)
7. Finally, remember that GearScore doesn't equal skill. It is actually the
value of your worth as a human being. If somebody only has 2k GearScore, they
aren't human. So its okay to pull out your PvP sword and kill them, camp them,
/sit on their face, /spit on them, camp them some more, /dance on their corpse,
/lol @ them, etc.. Because in reality, your wayyyyyyyyy cooler then the guy with
the 2k GearScore.
