Valheim - How to Beat Eikthyr

How to defeat the first boss, Eikthy in Valheim.

The bosses in Valheim can be a handful to defeat, but we've got your back.  If you want to progress and acquire some special equipment then you need to defeat Eikthyr.

Eikthyr is a masssive deer mob.  This will likely be the first time that you face a real challenge in the game.  

Before summoning Eikthyr make the following to give yourself the best chance at success. 

• Leather Pants
• Leather Helmet
• Leather Armor
• Bow
• Plenty of arrows
• Eat cooked meat, Neck meat and Mushrooms to boost your health. 

Eikthyr has three main patterns that you need to understand. 

Charge - Eikthyr will charge at the player and try to smash you with his head.  Dodge / move to avoid this. 

Lightning Bolt - Eikthyr launches a lightning bolt at you.  This is a short range attack, so keeping your distance will negate it. 

Lightning AoE - Eikthyr will discharge lightning around him.  Stay at distance to avoid this. 

Keep moving and use the terrain / pillars to block Eikthyr's line of sight.   Remember that sprinting will use stamina, but you can recover by hiding behind the pillars.    

You beat Eikthyr by whittling him down, bit by bit and avoiding the attacks.  There is no quick way to defeat this boss.
