1. Daily Column

Today is the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Penning it better than I ever could I give you CNN and Canada.com.

Age of Conan fans were #1 in your program and #1 in our hearts yesterday as they stampeded to TTH in unprecedented numbers, dwarfing the number of visitors from any other site, driving them before the horde, listening to the lamentations of their women.

I continued my trek as a newbie through EVE Online by mining longer than Rosie at an all-you-can-eat buffet. I saved up my ISK and trained appropriately so that I could buy a bigger ship to do it all over again, albeit much faster and with greater gusto. Unfortunately, I picked the wrong ship and my days of firing laser beams from sharks' heads at rocks in space ended with me purchasing a ship with a HUGE cargohold, but only one spot to put a frickin' laser beam on the shark's head. I'm not mining at the same slow speed. I just don't have to fly back to the station as often to refine. In fact, and what does this tell you...I mine in one window while I play another game in yet another window. Now to save 90,000,000 ISK (or for me about a hundred years of mining) to buy a battleship. I expect to purchase it, fly it out into space and have some suicide goon from SomethingAwful.com blow it up. I can hardly wait.

The bright side is that it gave me time to play more Tabula Rasa. The more I play, the more I enjoy the game. The pacing is great and though the controls seemed cumbersome at first, they are now second nature. The early levels (pre-10) seem made for solo play. The feature that jumps out at me most is what I call the "killing spree". Rather than giving me a perk for logging out and "resting" my character I get a perk for killing things continuously and with great zeal! The faster I kill the higher my experience bonus goes. I've had it as high as 5X and let me tell you, rocking Bane at 5X experience has fun oozing out all over it.

I don't find myself wondering what level I am and how close I am to getting the next one. I just play, have fun and the levels seem to look after themselves. If you have a beta key (and if you had signed up here you would have been able to grab one) then give the game a shot. So far, it's a winner! No key, then hit our TR community site and start reading.
