Ten Ton Hammer's Blacksmithing Guide

Blacksmithing 1 - 375 Leveling Guide

We present for your reading pleasure a guide on the best way to “power” skill to the Blacksmithing profession in World of Warcraft. We’ve gone and found the cheapest items to create that don’t require super expensive recipes. As a matter of a fact, outside of the Outland recipes almost all of the recipes can be obtained from the trainers!

Before you decide that maxing Blacksmithing is for you, prepare yourself for some serious expense. Figure out if this really is the profession that you want. The first step is getting from skill level 1 to 300. To do this will take in the neighborhood of 500 gold in supplies, so be prepared.

For the skill 1 - 300 trip you will need the following main ingredients and many more minor ones: many (100 each) Rough, Course and Heavy Stones, 10 Silver Bars, 300 Bronze Bars, 240 Iron Bars, 440 Solid Stones, 380 Steel Bars, 140 Mithril Bars, 26 Star Rubies, and 600 Thorium Bars. As you can see the material requirements are fairly steep. If you’re near the Auction House then you can pretty much figure out how much you’ll need to spend.

Once you reach 300, things are just getting started. The trip from 300-375 is at least 10x harder and can be up to 10x more expensive as well! Depending on your server you could pay up to 5000 gold for the mats to hit skill level 375. On most servers it will end up costing you around 3,000 to 4,000 gold unless you spend a long time farming on your own.

For skill levels 300 - 375 the exact materials depend on the faction that you choose in Shattrath. For Aldor Blacksmiths the base materials you will need are: 370 Thorium Bars, 199 Fel Iron Bars, 130 Adamantite Bars, 40 Netherweave Cloth, 70 Primal Water, 60 Primal Fire. For Scryer Blacksmiths the base materials are as follows: 370 Thorium Bars, 39 Fel Iron Bars, 130 Adamantite Bars, 40 Netherweave Cloth, 50 Hardened Adamantite Bars (made from 600 Adamantite Bars), 220 Arcane Dust, 40 Large Prismatic Shards. The primal water alone will run you almost 1500 gold on many servers if you are Aldor.

It may be a wise idea if you’re level 70 to farm for allot of the materials yourself to save on the very expensive costs. However if you have the gold, buying in the auction house will save you a significant amount of time.

150-155

Golden Rod

1x Gold Bar
2x Course Grinding Stone

Back to another enchanter item, this time the next rod they need while leveling. Again, this item sells nicely on the auction house and is usually in demand.

155-185

Green Iron Leggings

8x Iron Bar
1x Heavy Grinding Stone
1x Green Dye

A very cheap item to make, and good for 30 skill points! Keep them going.

185-200

Golden Scale Bracers

5x Steel Bar
2x Heavy Grinding Stone

The first steel item that you are likely to make, and good for a fairly cheap 15 skill points.
200-210

Solid Grinding Stone

4x Solid Stone

Back to the stone items. Even though you need 40 solid stone, these get you some cheap skill points.
210-215

Golden Scale Bracers

5x Steel Bar
2x Heavy Grinding Stone

Another very cheap item to make, however it only provides reliable skill ups for 5 skill points.
215-235

Steel Plate Helm

14 x Steel Bar
1x Solid Grinding Stone

While expensive in steel, the lack of other ingredients make this an ideal leveling item.

You'll be making these until 235, however be sure to train for Artisan at 200!!

235-250

260-275

Mithril Spurs

4x Mithril Bar
3x Solid Grinding Stone

Ok, this is not a trainable item, but it is a common world drop recipe and can usually be purchased in the auction house for a reasonable price. Also the spurs themselves are useful and can be sold.

Because they are so much cheaper than the Thorium pieces they are worth returning to after Dense Sharpening stones are done instead of Imperial Plate Items. Expect to make 30-40 of them to get your 15 skill points though.

250-260

Dense Sharpening Stones

1x Dense Stone

Back to stones for a quick and very cheap 10 skill points!

275-295

Imperial Plate Bracers

12x Thorium Bar

Your first Thorium items, and here is where things start to go up drastically in price compared to previous items that you made. Just wait until you get to the 350 range!

295-315

Imperial Plate Boots

18x Thorium Bar

You can start making these at 290, but really, why would you. They take 6 more Thorium per item than the Bracers. As long as your still getting points from the Bracers reliably, make them.

You'll be making these until 315, however be sure to train for Master Blacksmith at 300!!

Master Blacksmith

The Burning Crusade

At this point things are going to get expensive. You may have spent a few hundred gold getting here. From this point on though expect to spend several thousand gold to get to 375 unless you farm a lot of the ore and other materials yourself.

315-320

Imperial Plate Chest

20x Thorium Bar

More Imperial items, this time a few more bars per item, for a quick 5 more skill points.

320-325

Fel Iron Chain Tunic

9x Fel Iron Bar

The few Fel Iron items that you actually need to make on this speed trip to 375.
325-330

Lesser Rune of Warding

1x Adamantite Bar

A cheap item at this level to make, however plan to make more than 5 to get your skill points. It took me 12.

330-340

Adamantite Cleaver

8x Adamantite Bar

This recipe is a limited supply one, sold by Aaron Hollman in Shattrath City, Arras in the Exodar, or Eriden in Silvermoon City.

340-350

Lesser Rune of Shielding

1x Adamantite Bar

This is another cheap item to make, however it will not always give a skill point. Plan on making up to 20 of them to get your skill points. It is however far cheaper than any other option.

This recipe is sold by Mari Stonehand in Wildhammer Stronghold for Alliance players and by Rohok in Thrallmar for Horde players.

350-360

Adamantite Weightstone

1x Adamantite Bar
2x Netherweave Cloth

While still a cheap stone skill point, this is way more expensive than the stone items your used to making. Also to get the recipe you need honored reputation with the Cenarion Expedition, but that is fairly easy to get, and makes getting these 10 skills points far less expensive than any other method.

Aldor's Rep Path

360-370

Flamebane Gloves

8x Fel Iron Bars
4x Primal Water
4x Primal fire

Your first truly insanely costing item to make, at over 200 gold each just for the primal waters and fire.

Requires your to have honored rep with the Aldor to buy the pattern, which is BoP.

370-375

Flamebane Breastplate

16x Fel Iron Bars
6x Primal Water
4x Primal Fire

Your finally there! Just 5 more items to create, each one costing over 250 gold in primal's alone!

Requires your to have revered rep with the Aldor to buy the pattern, which is BoP.

Scryer's Rep Path

360-370

Enchanted Adamantite Boots

3x Hardened Adamantite Bars
12x Arcane Dust
2x Large Prismatic Shards

Your first truly insanely costing item to make. As the saying goes, if you have to ask what it costs, you can't afford it.

Requires your to have honored rep with the Scryers to buy the pattern, which is BoP.

370-375

Enchanted Adamantite Breastplate

4x Hardened Adamantite Bars
20x Arcane Dust
4x Large Prismatic Shards

Your finally there! Just 5 more insanely priced items left to craft before you are done!

Requires your to have revered rep with the Scryers to buy the pattern, which is BoP.
