The Treasury of the Ancients is a small dungeon in eastern
Khopshef Province on the
outskirts of the Pyramid of the Ancients. The inner dungeon is geared
towards groups ranging from level 35 to 40 and is guarded by living
statues that will protect against all invaders. There are those within
Stygia willing to pay a handsome bounty for a band of mercenaries
willing to
brave the depths of this dungeon and retrieve its riches.
The living statues are not the only creatures to call this
place home. Beyond a protective barrier is the Archaic Queen. You will
only be able to face this creature after disposing of her guards. Be
sure you speak with the cursed creature within the Queen's chambers
known as Thutmekri. This deceptive creature will offer treasure in
exchange for services, but he
is reluctant to part with his shiny goods. Perhaps a boot inserted
firmly into his bony arse can convince him otherwise.

Ziyad, a local Stygian scholar is looking for someone willing
to enter
the Treasury of the Ancients and retrieve statue heads that were made
in imitation of human emotions. In order to retrieve these you
will have to slay the Archaic Statues within the Treasury of the
Ancients. Don't be fooled by these statues, they may look like they
aren't alive, but they are. These living statues keep guard over these
ancient halls and will only become animated once you approach the
Queens chamber.

Treasury of the Ancients is guarded by living statues.
When you enter the Treasury of the Ancients you will see a
long hallway. On each side is a long row of stone statues standing
motionless, but it's obvious these guys won't stay still for long. When
you make your way down the hall the statues start to
make subtle movements. You'll hear the sound of stone quickly shifting
as you make a quick and invain attempt to glance what it was. At the
end of this long hallway is a force wall
that you can't pass. When you turn to make your way back towards the
entrance two statues will have moved and blocked your path to the exit.
From here, two
statues at a time will animate and attack you until all twenty have
been destroyed. Once they are all dead the passages to both the Queen's
room and the entrance will reopen.
The statues are all level 38 and will attack in one of three
ways.
- Electric: Some of the statues make use of electrical damage
spells
such as Lightning Strike. - Fire: Other Statues make use of fire based spells such as
Flamestrike. - Melee: Melee based statues will deal slash, pierce, and
crush damage and use attacks such as Dulling Blow.

The
Archaic Queen is the most difficult fight you will face in this dungeon.
As you kill each of the statues some will drop heads relating
to your quest. From the best I can tell the drops are completely random
but you will have them all except for the Queen's by the time they're
all dead.
Boss - Archaic Queen (Level
39)
The Archaic Queen can be found behind the first barrier you encounter
when entering this dungeon. You can't reach the queen until all other
statues on your side of the barrier are dead. Once they have been
defeated the barrier will drop and you can enter the Archaic Queen's
chamber. The Queen
is no pushover, she has a few things you need to be aware of before
attacking.
The Archaic Queen is a very tall level 39 mob and will
periodically
summon two level 39 minions to aid her in battle. These minions aren't
very tough and really are more of a distraction the Queen uses to
occupy
you as she heals. Dispatch these minions quickly and refocus your
attention on the Queen as she will heal herself for quite a bit if left
unchecked. She also makes use of
lightning magic and she has some pretty strong heals, so make sure you
bring some allies for this battle and a healer of your own. Stuns will
help out a great deal in slowing or preventing her from healing.

Thutmekri, the cursed skeleton has promised you a handsome
bounty of treasure if you can free him of his curse. In order to
release him you will need to track down and slay three individuals in
Khopshef Province who placed the curse upon him. All three can be found
in different places to the west and are pretty easy fights.
Min-tep
Min-tep is a pretty simple fight and can be found in Bubshur at
coordinates (606,569). He attacks using slash damage and skills called
'Ravage Barrier' that decreases Slash Invulnerability and 'Profane
Blight' which deals slash damage. For the most part he is purely tank
and spank.

Krellos
Krellos can be found in the south near the entrance to the Purple Lotus
Swamp at coordinates (547,108). Krellos
will use a Fire Aura and a number of other skills such as 'Hail of
Furious Blows', 'Guard of Dancing Steel', and 'Furious Strikes'.
Derekhar
Derekhar can be found in the Southern Oasis Swamp at coordinates
(220,166). This is the easiest of the three enemies and he uses the
skills 'Shield Bash', 'Dulling Blow', and deals slash damage.
Once the three guys are dead return to Thutmekri. Thutmekri
will reveal that he can't die because of a special gem in his stomach
and that he has lied and tricked you into killing those poor saps
because he owed them money. Not only that, this ungrateful pile of
bones refuses to give you the treasure he promised unless you do
something else for him. Unable to kill this bastage you will be forced
to do something else for the treasure.

That ungrateful and decrepit pile of bones, Thutmekri, refuses to give
you the treasure until you fetch him some ale to quench his age old
thirst. Seek out the Alekeep in the city to the west at coordinates
(645,601). The keg of ale
will cost you five tin. Already you're losing money because of
that bonehead. However, the Alekeep will give you some good news. It
seems there is a plant that grows in the Southern Oasis known as
Bitterpurge. This plant will clean out your innards, or in this case
that bonehead's innards. Since he has a gem in his stomach making him
invincible this could prove useful. Make your way south to the Oasis
and
find the Bitterpurge. The Bitterpurge can be found around coordinates
(222,219) in the Southern Oasis Swamp and can be found as ground spawns
around the area. Just mind the crocodiles as the swamp is full of them.
Once you have the Bitterpurge you will automatically combine
it with the ale. Let's see how that crooked skeleton likes this one.
Return the tainted ale to Thutmekri and enjoy the show. Ever seen a
skeleton blow chunks? You're about to! Once that
treacherous skeleton downs the ale he will throw up everything,
including that precious gem. Oh yes, put on your good boots it's time
for a monkey stomping. Angry and cursing you for betrayal, Thutmekri
will
attack. Teach this skeleton the penalty for making you do another Fed
Ex quest.
Without the gem, Thutmekri isn't much of a challenge. He is
mostly a melee fighter dealing crush damage, so a good group will have
little trouble taking this guy apart. Once he is dead collect the two
keys from his dead decaying corpse...er bones. Inside the Queen's
chamber there are two climb points. Climb each of these two points and
open
the chests located on each of the upper areas to collect the treasure
and your reward.

Kayires, a dabbler in apothecary, will hire you to find a sample of
Darkroot. The only place this item can be found is in the Queen's
Chamber within the Treasury of the Ancients. The root can
be found on the ground inside her chamber, but you will have to deal
with the queen and her many statue guards before you can get it. If you
have already followed this guide they should already be dead. Once
you have the root return it to Kayires in Bubshur.
