In Warlords of Dreanor Level 90 Character Boosts become a new feature. With just a few clicks of a button, players could not instantly level their characters to level 90. Unfortunately, there is not an instruction manual that comes with the boost and many players are finding themselves lost and more than a little confused.

Even months into this expansion you can find players asking questions about the ins and outs of boosting a character. Answers to these questions are scattered and sometimes hard to find. In the hopes of making things a little easier, we have compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions about character boosting along with the best answers we could find. Enjoy!

General

How long can I save my boost?

Boosts last indefinitely. There is no expiration date, time limit, or use by suggestion. Keep it for a day, a week, a month, or even several years. Keep it until level 90 is the new level 50 and you still won't have a problem. Your boost will be there waiting for you to use no matter what. So take your time when choosing a character to boost, there is absolutely no rush.

Is boosting a character worth it?

The desire to boost a character will vary from person to person. If you don't have the patience to level, then it might be worth it. If you are new to the game and want to catch up with friends then it might be worth it. If you want to get right into the awesomeness of Draenor, the boost might be worth it.

The only person that can truly answer this question is...you. Ask yourself if you can justify spending this money or if you will hate yourself afterwards. The choice is yours and there is no right or wrong answer. Boosting is great for some and totally useless for others. Think about your situation, your funds, and your feelings. Then ask yourself if boosting a character is worth it to YOU.

Do purchased boosts get anything extra?

No, purchased boosts get exactly the same things as the free boost that comes with your expansion pack. There is currently absolutly no difference between the two.

Where can I purchase a boost and how much does it cost?

Character boosts can be purchased via the Blizzard Store either in-game or on World of Warcraft's official website. Currently, character boosts cost 60.00 USD per boost.

How do I apply my boost?

Applying your boost is super simple. Log into your account and decide which character you wish to boost or create a new one. Select the large gold icon with the number 90 in it on the character creation screen to begin the boost process and then select the character you wish to boost. From here you will follow a set of easy steps to complete the boosting process. At the end of the steps, your character will instantly be level 90!

Professions

Are my professions boosted?

Professions on a character level 60 or above will be boosted to skill level 600. This holds true even if your professions are only skill level 1. Be warned, if you don't have any professions, two “useful” professions will be automatically assigned to you (details below). Although, no new recipes will be added. These will need to be collected on your own. Characters below level 60 will need to do things the hard way and level their professions themselves.

What happens if I don't have any professions?

If your character is level 60 and currently does not have any professions learned they will be assigned professions that are deemed to be useful to your character class. The following professions are automatically learned based on your armor type:

  • Cloth – Tailoring and Enchanting
  • Leather/Mail – Skinning and Leatherworking
  • Plate – Mining and Blacksmithing

If your character is below level 60 and does not have any professions they will not be assigned to you at the time of the boost. You will need to pick your professions and level them accordingly.

Talents, Spells, and Abilities

Where are my spells, talents, etc.?!

One would think when boosting a character to 90 you would have access to all the spells and talents of a normal character that level. This assumption is dead wrong. When boosting to level 90 you will find your character is lacking many spells, skills, and talents.

Don't panic, this inconvenient set up is working as intended. Players who boost characters will need to earn new spells, talents, and more by completing the initial quest line leading them into Draenor. This earning of abilities seems to hold true no matter if you boost a freshly created toon or one you have played previously. This means talents, spells, and other things you may have already earned will vanish until they are unlocked again via the quest chain.

Character

What characters can I boost to level 90?

Players may use their Level 90 Boost on any character under level 90. Whether the character is level 1 or level 85, you may boost it up at any time. You may choose to boost an already created character or even make a brand new one, it does not matter.

Where will my newly boosted character start out?

Players boosting a character will find themselves placed directly in front of the Dark Portal. Talk about throwing you right into the action. Here boosted characters will find Khadgar and his crew, waiting to start them on their adventure into Draenor. The quest to speak to Khadgar will automatically be in your quest log for you to accept. Once accepted, you will follow the same general quest line as any other level 90 character.

Will I have to do the starting zone on a Pandaren or Death Knight?

No, you will skip all starting zones and be instantly placed in front of the Dark Portal to begin questing there. Monks will be asked to pick a faction during the boosting process.

Gear

What gear comes with my boost?

Boosted characters are not thrown out into the wilds of the world naked and afraid. Blizzard prepares all boosted characters by giving them a full set of level 90 ilvl 483 gear as well as four 22 slot bags. Your gear will reflect the spec you were asked to choose when completing the boosting process. You will also find 150 gold tucked neatly into your pockets. While minimal, it should at least cover any small costs you might incur at the start of your adventure.

Will any current gear or items on my character be replaced?

If you are boosting a character that is high level you may be wondering if your gear and bags will be replaced with the gear automatically given to level 90 boosted characters. This is especially concerning for players who already have large (and expensive) bags or gear they are attached to.

The short answer is yes, it will be replaced. However, don't panic. Credible sources have reported that any and all gear that is replaced won't simply vanish. Instead it will be mailed directly back to the character for safe keeping. If you are still feeling uncomfortable with the process, log in and deposit any items you want to save into your bank until the boost is complete.
