Levels 11 to 20
Eastern Kingdoms |
Loch Modan - Alliance
Loch Modan is the the second area you will adventure in if you are a Dwarf or Gnome player. Few other Alliance characters have reason to come here, althought the scenary is worth it, and some human players will travel here to quest. It contains many quests from the low teens to about level 20. The zone features a huge lake in the center and a dam to the north. The main town in the region is the dwarf town of Thelsamar.
Quests in the zone focus around the mines to the north and west that have been invaded by tunnel rats, the open mine to the east of the lake invaded by the Stonesplinter Troggs, and the Mo'grosh Ogre camp to the north east of the lake. Generally you should start on the west side of the lake and level for a little while, then you can move across to the east shore. When you are at least level 15 you can head north east and confront to ogres, do so with a group though as they are all level 14-18 elites! Remember elites fight as if they are several levels higher than what is shown as their level. Rushing into a fight with an elite your level or higher is a good way to die if you are not ready for it.
Make sure you continue to improve your profession skills while in the area to save yourself a trip back later. If you are a herbalist you will continue to find peacebloom, silverleaf and earthroot in Loch Modan, but will also find mageroyal in quantity as well as briarthorn and a small amount of bruiseweed. For those with mining you will continue to find copper but can now find tin as well. For skinners there is a high concentration of beasts to skin and you can easily reach skill 100 in this zone.
A complete list of quests in Loch Modan can be found in our database here: TenTonHammer Quest Database Results for Loch Modan . We also have a Map of Loch Modan .
The Ghostlands - Horde
The Ghostlands are the secondary area for the Blood Elves and meant for levels 10-20. The zone borders the Eversong woods to the north and the Eastern Plaguelands to the south. It also houses the Troll raid area Zul'Aman. The zone is defined by the huge gash across it that was created by the scourge and the dead and destroyed forest all around. While the Blood Elves where fighting the scourge they destroyed everything in their way to leave them as little as possible. The whole zone has the creepy air of a ghost town. The flight point is located at the one main town in the zone, Tranquillien.
A complete list of quests in The Ghostlands can be found in our database here: TenTonHammer Quest Database Results for The Ghostlands along with our Map of Ghostlands.
Make sure you keep leveling your early level professions in the Ghostlands as you can find some peacebloom, and stranglethorn and moderate concentration of silverleaf, earthroot, mageroyal, briarthorn and bruiseweed for herbalism there. You can also find a high density of copper and moderate concentrations of tin and silver for miners. Lastly for skinning there are many beast that can be skinned for skills up to 80.
Redridge Moutains - Alliance
You can find the Redridge Mountains east of Elwynn Forest, and they are meant for alliance players around level 15 and continue through the mid twenties. Normal progressions for a human player is Elwynn Forest, Westfall and then the Redridge Mountains. The zone is fairly small and compact, so it makes getting to all the areas fairly easy, and even an unfortunate death in the furthest reaches is easy to deal with.
I have always found that this is a very good place to adventure, especially if you have a good group. In the lower level ranges there are a lot of quests packed into a small area in the zone, which makes leveling very quick. In a properly run group you can level very quickly from 18-20. The main quest chains have you acting as a postman for messages with Westfall, Darkshire and Stormwind, dealing with the wildlife, tracking down gnolls, merlocks and orcs in the area. Several of the chains are quite long, but all move at a good pace making this a very fun zone.
Make sure you continue to improve your profession skills while in the area to save yourself a trip back later. If you are a herbalist you will continue to find the odd earthroot and mageroyal however the most common herbs will be briarthorn, bruiseweed and kingsblood. Miners will continue to find copper and tin, but not in significant quantities. Lastly skinners can find some beasts to skin and you should be able to reach skill 120 in this zone.
A complete list of quests in the Redridge Mountains can be found in our database here: TenTonHammer Quest Database Results for Redridge Mountains . We also have a Map of Redridge Mountains .
Silverpine Forest - Horde
Silverpine Forest is a Horde area with quests covering the entire range of levels from 10 to 20. Most Horde characters might end up ignoring this zone as it is only really near the Undead starting zone, all others need to travel here via Zeppelin from the other continent. It is worth checking out though as it is a strongly themed area that is full of both challenging and fun quests. The quests in the zone mainly center around killing Gnolls and werewolves, and tracking down more items for the creation of poisons. Most quests will be done by level 20 although there are a few that may take you until your low 20's to finish.
Be careful while you are wandering around in this zone though as there are random spawns of much higher level elites calls the Sons of Arugal that will kick your ass if you run into them alone. Be on the watch for them as they spawn all over the zone, usually where you least expect it.
The main quest chains are the Deathstalkers, Arugals Folly, Dalar Analysis and the Rot Hide chains. Several of these chains start at low levels (10 - 14) and progress as you do through to as high as level 24 in the case of those that finish in Shadowfang Keep. Shadowfang Keep is the instance found in this zone. A complete walk through of the zone can be found here: TenTonHammer's Silverpine Forest Zone Guide.
Silverpine Forest is an excellent place to practice your early level professions as you can find high concentrations of peacebloom, silverleaf and moderate concentrations of earthroot for herbalism there. You can also find a high density of copper and moderate concentrations tin there for miners. Lastly for skinning there is a high concentration of wolves and bears that can be skinned for skills between 50 and 100.

Westfall - Alliance
Westfall, at one time, was a rich farm land full of prosperous farms. Now it sits nearly abandoned, its farms nothing more then dry land and the Stormwind Guard had but abandoned this land. If not for the militia, this land would no longer be considered Human territory, but belonging to the dastardly Defias Brotherhood.
That’s where you come in. This land faces several threats and requires the attention of a brave adventurer such as yourself to help turn the tides of battle against those who wish to conquer this land for their evil plots. Shew, long sentence, but noble work requires noble sentences! Basically there are three things in this land that don’t belong (outside of the random critters). There is the Defias Brotherhood who controls both mines and has launched mechanical contraptions on the farms to scare off the farmers. Then there are the lesser of the evils, the Gnolls and the Murlocs who hold to the coastal areas mostly.
Westfall is your main adventure area if you are Alliance and between level 10-20. While Loch Modan has quests at the same level, Westfall has more and is more populated (making it easier to find a group). The main quest string in Westfall involves the Defias Brotherhood and will occupy you from about levels 12 - 20, possibly higher. The Defias Brotherhood starts off as the Peoples Militia quests and then turns into quests in the instance dungeon "The Deadmines" and follows you to later levels in "The Stockades" instance in Stormwind. The other main quest series in Westfall involves the Murlock coastal missions and the Farm missions. A complete list of quests in Westfall can be found in our database here: TenTonHammer Quest Database Results for Westfall .
Westfall is a great place to keep leveling your early level professions as you can find some peacebloom and moderate concentration of silverleaf, earthroot, mageroyal, briarthorn and bruiseweed for herbalism there. You can also find a high density of copper and moderate concentrations tin there for miners. Kalimdor |
Darkshore - Alliance
Once the Night Elves leave Teldrassil and make their way to Auberdine in Darkshore they will find that this area has a very high number of quests to keep them busy up to almost level 20. If you move between areas you could still be doing quests in this area until the low 20's, but likely only if soloing. After this zone your next move as a Night Elf should be into Ashenvale forest to the south.
A complete list of quests in Westfall can be found in our database here: TenTonHammer Quest Database Results for Darkshore . You can also find our Map of Darkshore in our database.

The Barrens - Horde
The Barrens is one of the largest zones in World of Warcraft, the most popular leveling spot for Horde in their teens, and an intersection for travelling high-level Horde and Alliance alike. Just about every kind of Kalimdorian enemy you can imagine also takes up residence in the Barrens, from the prolific Razormane that cover a large swath of the center of the map south down to Razorfen Kraul, to the Southsea Buccaneers who control Northwatch Hold, to the destructive Venture Co. ravaging the landscape around the Sludge Fen in the northeast to Bael Modan in the southeast, to the Kolkar centaur that run rampant west to the Stonetalon Mountains and hundreds of voracious natural beasts in between . The Barrens is also home to three instanced dungeons for groups of adventurers, Wailing Caverns (suitable for adventurers level 17-24), Razorfen Kraul (level 29-38), and Razorfen Downs (level 37-46).
Aside from adventure opportunities, you'll find yourself travelling through the Barrens long past when you can benefit from hunting there. The Crossroads, in the center of the Barrens, is Azeroth's LAX, though after patch 1.10 you may not touch at the Crossroads en-route to your destination, more Horde flights originate here than from any other Horde flight master. Ratchet, to the east of the Crossroads, is a neutral port for ships bound for Booty Bay. The Barrens also borders such frequently travelled zones as starting zones of Durotar and Mulgore, step-up zones like Ashenvale Forest, Stonetalon Mountains, and Thousand Needles, and the high-level zone of Dustwallow Marsh. A complete list of quests in The Barrens can be found in our database here: TenTonHammer Quest Database Results for The Barrens .

Bloodmyst Isle - Alliance
Bloodmyst Isle is the secondary area for the Draenei and meant for levels 10-20. The whole zone is filled with glowing read crystals that make the air glow an eirie red. The crystals were created by corruption from the Draenies ship and the zone used to be a thriving forest. Blizzard chose to have some fun with the zone and there are several referances to sci-fi movies in the zone. Such as a character named Laando and a quest called the Kessel Run, both referances from the Star Wars movies. The flightpoint is located at the one main town in the zone, Blood Watch.

Instances |
Deadmines - Alliance
The Deadmines are a level 17-26 instance found in Westfall. While it is rated as level 17-26 many of the MOBS are actually 20ish elite so you may need a good party or to be at the upper range of the levels to handle them. It will be the first instance you encounter as an Alliance player and can be quite daunting as your first exposure to instances. It will take at least 2 hours to complete, so make sure you have the time available.
The Deadmines quests are received after completing many quests in Westfall tracking down information and setting up the storyline. It is a very well done area and the plot is interesting, so don't just skip by all the quest text... Take your time and read it and get involved in the story. To many late game instances the story is completely ignored, so take your time on early ones and enjoy.
The instance is almost entirely filled with humanoids so is a very good place to level tailoring. It also have very good drops so is well worth running.
You can find a complete guide to the Deadmines here: TenTonHammers Guide to the Deadmines. You can also find a complete list of quests in our database here: TenTonHammer Quest Database Entries for the Deadmines.
Ragefire Chasm - Horde
Ragefire Chasm is a small instance located in Orgrimmar that is meant for levels 13-18. Note that many of the MOBS are elite and you may need to be on the upper end of the scale or at least a few members of the group to be. As it is the lowest level Instance in the game, Ragefire Chasm doesn't have much behind it in terms of being long, or having the best loot. This Instance is pretty much easy experience and a good introduction to the Instance system for those who are unfamiliar with it.
The group that you bring with you into the Chasm really shouldn't affect your ability to complete the Instance. As long as you have a good leveled batch of players, there is little to stop you in this Instance. Defiantly bring a healer along though, as you will need to make sure characters don't die. It's a long walk from the graveyard in Razor Hill back to the Cleft of Shadow.
There are five quests to be done in the instance. They are Testing an Enemy's Strength, The Power to Destroy, Searching for the Lost Satchel, Slaying the Beast, and Hidden Enemies. You can find a complete guide to Ragefire Chasm here: TenTonHammers Guide to Ragefire Chasm, which includes a complete map of the instance.
Wailing Caverns - Horde
The Wailing Caverns are a level 17-24 instance found in the Barrens. It is located just south west of the Crossroads in the large mountain there. Note, that while it is rated as level 17-24 many of the MOBS are actually 20ish elite so you may need a good party or to be at the upper range of the levels to handle them.
There are many quests to be completed here, and it is a great place to level while you are in the correct range. The once difficult thing about the instance is finding you way around through the winding tunnels in the east half of it. Luckily we have a full map or it found here: Wailing Caverns Map. This is likely only your second instance as a Horde player and it is fairly long, so ensure you have at least 2 hours available to complete it. There is nothing worse than having a group disappear on you half way through an instance. Starting to learn this early in the game will create better habits later for 3-4 hour instances.
You can find a complete guide to the Wailing Caverns here: TenTonHammers Guide to the Wailing Caverns. You can also find a complete list of quests in our database here: TenTonHammer Quest Database Entries for the Wailing Caverns.
