Did you miss out on the early Warcraft RTS? In the future you may have the chance to enjoy them on your modern PC without having to twist through a few programs notorious for getting old games to work. At BlizzCon 2013, Production Director J. Allen Brack told a fan during the WoW Q&A panel that some Blizzard developers have been working updating the classic RTS series as a side project.

"So, we actually have a guy on our team — actually several guys on our team — who are actually working on a side project to do something like that in some form or fashion," Brack said. "We're fans of Warcraft 1, Warcraft 2, Warcraft 3, and we'd love to replay those games for sure."

What this means for fans of World of Warcraft that were introduced to Azeroth in the MMORPG or the previous and final installment of the RTS, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (and Frozen Throne expansion), is that they may have a chance to travel to the past and get a first-hand experience of the games that set this universe into motion – Warcraft: Of Orcs and Humans & Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal expansion. It’s an appropriate time to do such as thing too given that the recently announced Warlords of Draenor expansion for World of Warcraft will involve a trip to the past and some of the events that spawned from the original RTS series. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see it added as a box or pre-order bonus.
