DDO Server Merge An update
DDO news
DDO news
Following an overwhelming response from the community, we would like to
bring to your attention some changes in the way we will execute the DDO
server merge. Originally, it was planned that all of the current worlds
would be merged identically (cloned) into two new worlds, Keeper and
Devourer. The idea of that was to allow every player a free choice of
which server to play his or her existing characters on.
However, due to community feedback, the decision has been made to
change our approach. We will still be merging into two new worlds, but
not all of the existing worlds will be merged onto them.
Here's how we will merge the servers:
Keeper:
Keeper will be a server made up of all the players from Boldrei and
Aureon.
Devourer:
Devourer will be populated with all the characters from Lyrandar, Dorn
and Onatar.
Merging with this configuration will address a number of concerns that
were brought to light after the initial announcement was made and we
feel that this is the best way to move forward.
When will the merge take place?
Due to the new way in which we are looking to perform the merge, more
time is required to test the merge thoroughly. Currently we do not have
a specific date set in stone, however it will be sometime in the not
too distant future.
The majority of the original merge plan will still be used, for
example, any name duplication that occurs will still result in the same
suffix being added, however there should be a notable reduction in the
number of occurrences. If you wish to read the original announcement
and details, you can do so here.
