I'm not surprised to see Destiny 2 instantly do well after its split with Activision. Many blame Blizzard for much of the games' woes, and if I'm being honest, I'm not entirely surprised. My gut instinct tells me that Blizzard would never allow Destiny to cannibalize the WoW playerbase, so pushed Activision to a certain corner of the looter-shooter genre. Now they're free, it seems as though the game is bouncing back purely on the excitement of Shadowkeep, as well as their latest reveals to the community. Warmind.io has the game down at over a million players actively diving into the game, and the stat is growing.

According to Warmind, the population sits at well over 1.03 million for June,  with over 970,000 players in PvE. From the looks of things, and with the launch of the expansion and its free-to-play offering, the future should be fairly bright for Destiny 2.
