Besides their operating systems which we all loathe to use, what has Microsoft brought us that's actually good? I tell you what, it wasn't my bloody Lumia phone. I ended up having it repaired 4 times and even then the useless lump of circuitry wouldn't work. As for the XBox, well, that just screams "American Muscle!" complete with a terrible motion tracking camera. What else is left? Oh yes, Windows Live (terrible), Windows 8 (terrible), Internet Explorer (terrible) and Outlook (terrible). Besides the Surface, which I’m informed is half decent, if not expensive, I’m convinced this company should have gone bust years ago if it wasn't for the fact they force their way onto almost every PC.

My hatred of Microsoft runs deep and I’m honestly surprised Motiga have paired up with them for Gigantic. What does that mean? Well, when Microsoft aren’t messing up Fable or scooping up Mojang, it seems they’re still interested in some games. So much so that they’re forcing Motiga to eventually run Gigantic only on Windows 10. Is that a good thing? I don’t bloody think so. I’m happy with Windows 7. I like Windows 7. I don’t want to upgrade to Windows 10 to play Gigantic, even if it is free. I shouldn’t have to.

"Not now, but yes, at some point in the near future, you’ll need to have Windows 10 to play Gigantic. We’re working with Microsoft to ensure a smooth transition. Some of you in alpha are already on Windows 10, and it’s working great. We’ll give you plenty of notice as that time draws nearer."

I’m not suggesting this news is all bad for Motiga because Microsoft have deep pockets and plenty of experience, but they’ve yet to deliver a product to me that wasn’t shite or integrated with godawful features. Why anyone would want to limit their game to a specific operating system, when not everyone will upgrade, is beyond me: it only serves to limit your potential player base.

Finally (the rant is almost over, readers!) I think limiting the console port to just the XBONE is also a mistake. It’s fair to say that the Playstation Network is a sizeable chunk of players that Motiga are now officially neglecting. Surely for maximum player exposure, placing your game on both platforms would be a better bet.

I really hope this turns out well for Motiga. Hopefully it’ll give them plenty of money and the exposure the game deserves, because Gigantic is frickin’ amazing.
