Heroes of the Storm has been fairly quiet lately but the arrival of its next update, Machines of War, looks pretty incredible. Bringing it with it two new maps (Braxis Holdout and Warhead Junction), two new Heroes (Zarya and Alark) as well as new skins for Kerrigan, Butcher and Rexxar. If that wasn't enough, there's a new mount or two and a new global event.

Although there's no sight of the kits for Zarya or Alark, the former is a Warrior and the latter an Assassin. For anyone who doesn't know, Zarya is from Overwatch and Alark is from StarCraft. His abilities in StarCraft could transition nicely to Heroes of the Storm:

Destruction Wave

Blast an area ahead with psionic energy, dealing 50 (+25 to air) damage to enemies and knocking them back. Massive units are knocked back a shorter distance.

Soul Absorption

User heals 20 HP and 20 shields when a biological unit is slain nearby

Deadly Charge

User dashes toward target enemy unit and deals 200 damage to it. Can be set to autocast.

Where the maps are concerned, I have to say that both look absolutely incredible and a great deal of fun with Braxis Holdout looking particularly amazing. Not only do I love the StarCraft theme across both maps, but Braxis Houldout seems like a cross between Cursed Hollow and Towers of Doom.

Machines of War is tipped to start on 13 September, alongside the new season.
