One curious player noticed that cyclone was removing Paladin auras and asked about it in the European forums. Here's the answer:

Posted by Ommra (Blizzard moderator) This made me a bit curious, so I had to look it up :) Apparently it is intended – area auras are supposed to be suppressed when the target is afflicted by banish or cyclone. In this case, the aura is turned off. This also applies to other auras (including hunters).
