The Gnomes are coming! The Gnomes are coming! The Gnomes are coming! In the 6th annual Running of the Gnomes event, a horde of Gnomes will converge together to raise awareness (and money) for breast cancer research. Created in 2009 by Skakavaz and Davvie, all money raised from this event goes stright to the Cleveland Clinic and the creators of the Touhy Vaccine. While the run started off small, with just 140 Gnomes, it has grown significantly over the last few years. In 2014 1,300 Gnomes showed up for the run and they easily exceeded their goal of raising $1,500.

This year the event takes place on the 24th of October at 8pm EST on the Scarlet Crusade-US server and despite the small stature of the characters, the run is mega fun. Every participant in the run is required to create a Gnome with their signature pink hair ont he day of the event. Special racing guilds have been created for the freshly made Gnomes to join. Show up early to get one of the super cute tabards specially created for the event and be prepared to get your run on. All Gnomes will be racing to Booty Bay and, if possible, creating a heart for a special after-event picture. 

Breast cancer is a big deal, it can affect our mothers, girlfriends, daughers, sisters, best friends, coworkers, and guildies. While this event is silly and fun, it also helps to draw attention to something that people often hesitate to talk about. So be sure to get out there and take part in this wonderful event.
