Earlier it was announced that weekly maintenance would be possibly done away with and replaced with an efficient method of doing it during off-time hours while the servers remain up. Apparently, this week, weekly maintenance will be returning (after it's hiatus during the holidays) due to a message located on the login server.

This is an interesting topic, due to how the community has taken Blizzard's words to mean there would be no server downtime. The way it was worded, it sounded as if weekly maintenance would be done away with. However, it could have also meant that they were reducing the time or frequency of the maintenance.

Personally, I believe that weekly maintenance is a great thing. All computers deserve a reboot and the amount of people on WoW can probably tax those servers hard. I do think that if they can reduce the time it takes, then hooray, if not then I will gladly accept the peaceful downtime each week.
