Remember that multiplayer RPG mod for StarCraft II from 2011 called World of StarCraft that caused such a stir with Blizzard? After that mess was sorted out and the name was changed to StarCraft Universe, the player-made mod continued in a slow development. Slowly but surely, a group of dedicated modders led by Ryan Winzen have managed to create and launch the first phase of the multiplayer RPG mod for StarCraft II. And from the video below, it’s looking pretty good for a collaborative multiplayer RPG mod project made from an RTS.

It's important to note that the initial release version is only single-player, which was done to allow the team to work out any lingering issues with the core multiplayer mechanics. The single-player prologue, StarCraft Universe: Chronicles of Fate, is designed to introduce players to the story of StarCraft Universe and serve as a tutorial on how to play the game. Once the multiplayer segment is deployed, players should be able to group up in groups of 5-10 to take on PvE monsters, raid challenges, and even arena PvP with other players.

What’s more impressive is that according to Winzen in an email to Kotaku, the team that has helped create this marvel of the modding community has never actually met face-to-face. You can see a full list of those that helped create the project here. The small team of modders also managed to enlist a few notable voice actors to help add some custom dialogue to the game such as
