This page will always show the latest Overwatch tier list for ranked / competitive play specifically on King's Row for attacking and defending. If you want to view our "overall" Tier List, you can do so here.

This Overwatch tier list is designed to rank Heroes in terms of their strength in the current meta on King's Row. Although some Heroes are considered balanced or niche, those that aren't Tier 1 or 2 shouldn't be considered poor. While any match can be won with any Hero, this list is designed to present you with the strongest choices.

Please also note that as the only current competitive environment for Overwatch, this Overwatch Tier List was influenced by a combination of the drafting from Gosugamers and our own experience with the game.

Tier List Descriptors

Tier 1 - These popular Heroes are used by the majority of teams, for the majority of any match. They're always a strong choice.

Tier 2 - Very strong Heroes that are seen in every match, but they are also regularly swapped in and out (80%-100% pickrate)

Tier 3 - Strong situational Heroes or Heroes that are played regularly, but not in every match due to team composition or map choice. Considered 'balanced' (40%-80% pickrate).

Tier 4 - These Heroes are sometimes picked and often considered good, but they require teams to form around them or they’re Heroes that rely heavily on personal ability over composition (20-40% pickrate).

Tier 5 - Considered niche, these Heroes are situational or rarely see competitive play (Less than 5% pickrate)

Tier List Movement

  • Tracer moved from T2 to T3.  Great at harassing enemy back lines, but terrible at holding a payload.
  • Zenyatta moved from T2 to T3.  Healer changes have dropped his potency, but still an excellent 2nd healer.
  • Hanzo moved from T3 to T5.   Why was he ever in T3?
  • Reaper moved from T3 to T2.   He's effective at all points on this map.
  • Zarya moved from T3 to T2.  Synergy with the other top tier heroes is making her a better choice than origninally expected.
  • Winston moved from T5 to T3.  An average tank that is extra-effective versus teams with Genji, Widow, etc.

Overall Rank

Tier 1

Guide

Role

Difficulty

Description

Lucio [Guide] Support Medium  Providing mobility, passive healing, a knockback and an ultimate that allows you to take the first point in one push.
Reinhardt [Guide] Tank Easy His Barrier Field combined with a powerful Ultimate allows for coordinated pushes against any team. A strong pick. Very valuable especially moving the payload.

Tier 2

Guide

Role

Difficulty

Description

D.Va [Guide] Tank Medium  Good damage in close quarters, reasonable armor and two lives (human form). She's predictable but tough. Great for removing snipers from their perches on this map and clearing the points and payloads.
Genji [Guide] Assault Hard High single target damage, mobility and an invaluable deflect. Highly effective in the right hands.  Lots of vertical space on this map makes it a great one for him to be played on.
Mercy [Guide] Support Medium High single target healing while offering a damage boost, she also has an amazing Ultimate to revive her team.  Many games are won on the final checkpoint by a Mercy resurrect.
Reaper [Guide] Assault Medium If he can get in close, he can cause mayhem, but needs help to do so.   Drop off ledges to use your ult on unsuspecting foes below.
Zarya [Guide] Tank Medium Solid projectile damage, an incredible Ultimate and very useful shielding for her and her team.

Tier 3

Guide

Role

Difficulty

Description

Ana [Guide] Support Hard Her skill ceiling is high and her kit isn't as impressive as some other Heroes.
McCree [Guide] Assault Medium Solid damage from medium range, high burst from his alternative fire and a very valuable stun.
Pharah [Guide] Assault Medium Hard to use her ult well on this map, but her mobility keeps enemies snipers at bay and forces opponents back so the payload can be pushed.
Roadhog [Guide]  Tank Medium He has a powerful Hook, selfsustain, and very high damage.
Soldier 76 [Guide] Assault Easy An very useful ultimate (aim-bot!) and consistent, high damage. Easy to play but doesn't excel anywhere.  His sustain is a great asset on this map.
Tracer [Guide] Assault Hard Her great mobility is a huge bonus on this map that has so many flanking routes.   Stay on the enemy healer and pushing the payload becomes a breeze.
Winston [Guide] Tank Easy Very poor damage and little ability to disrupt.
Zenyatta [Guide] Support Medium The current 2-2-2 meta is perfect for him.

Tier 4

Guide

Role

Difficulty

Description

Junkrat [Guide] Defence Medium Unreliable damage and easily killed. Stronger on defense than offense.
Mei [Guide] Defence Hard Good self sustain, but there are better choices on offense.

Tier 5

Guide

Role

Difficulty

Description

Bastion [Guide] Defence Easy Powerful if the enemy doesn't know his position, he can be easily countered with a well placed Barrier or rocket.
Hanzo [Guide] Defence Medium Vision is a huge deal on this map.  His ult can force enemies off the payload and win a checkpoint on its own.
Symmetra [Guide] Defence Easy Teleport just isn't as important on this map as offense.  Weak dps.  Much better choices out there.
Torbjorn [Guide] Defence Easy Automated turrets are a nuisance, but on offense they are hard to use effectively.
Widowmaker [Guide] Defence Medium In the right hands, she is a menance, but on offense it can be hard to find spots that allow for her to be used effectively.
