While this rumor seems to be completely without evidence, Cryptic is one of the few big name MMOG developers in that region., so it's not without merit Here's the original post:

Today's story about Star Trek Online's licensing change has left us to do some digging and we can now say that thanks to anonymous sources that Cryptic Studios has aquired the license for Star Trek Online.
