Dear Bigg,

I usually finish a season Platinum 1. What three things can you suggest to help me make the leap to those higher ranks?

Hi BBurb! Perhaps luckily for me, but I've never been Platinum so I do not know the small differences between a Diamond and Platinum player. I can however, share a few tips on what helped me jump from Master to Grandmaster.

1. I've said this one before. Make you you are soaking the lanes. The biggest reason you will lose a game is because you have fallen behind on experience. This leads to losses in teamfights, which increases your experience disadvantage: soaking is crucial to success.

2. Keep a smaller Hero pool. While it is very good to play Heroes from different roles, the pools per role should be small. Pick 2-3 heroes per role (Warrior, Assassin, Support are the main roles, and most Specialists play similarly to some Assassins) and master them. Playing a ton of Heroes will make you flexible, but it will take a long time to master them, and will inevitably delay your climb.

3. Stay flexible. Some games you will have to play a role, other than your main choice. Make sure you can play a few Heroes in each role in the off chance you cannot get the one you want. Losing games due to your inability to play a certain role will hinder your climb significantly.

In the end there is only one way to get better and that is through playing the game, but these tips should speed up your climb.
